If I had to sum up our stay in one word, it would be PERFECT! In decades of traveling, I've not been able to say that about ANY place. We were passing through on a business trip and decided to stop. We have three preferred hotel chains. Holiday Inn Express is one of them. We were able to book two rooms. (At first, we thought to stay at a neighboring hotel, but when we saw it had exterior doors to the rooms, I was VERY glad to happen to see the Holiday Onn and Suites Express signage.) THIS BY FAR is the BEST Holiday Inn And Suites Express I've ever stayed at and top 3 of Hotels I've stayed at in the USA. Hands down! (As I was leaving, I met the owner, thinking he was the manager. He is a VERY humble, kind, and friendly man.) Upon walking in, we received a warm welcome. Upon exiting the elevator on to our floor, it smelled clean. The room I stayed in is HUGE with a comfortable king size bed and a couch that I believe pulls out for extra bedding. I really don't watch tv, but there were two in the room, which was nice for those who may need it. The rooms and bathrooms were both clean and very tidy. Great thought and detail went into even the little details to add to the comfortable stay. From the signs to pillowcases that had the stitching soft on it, to the special lighting in the bathroom and in the room added warmth and ambiance. There were plenty of plugs that are updated, making it convenient to charge your electronics. The hotel does have a nice outdoor swimming pool. Breakfast was wonderful! The scrambled eggs weren't rubby or dry like I've experienced at other hotels. The oatmeal was cooked and had the right consistency. This place had a great variety of options for breakfast. I thought it was very kind and thoughtful as one of the ladies was closing the breakfast door to ask me if I wanted anything else before they shut down. The staff here are absolutely FABULOUS! From the housekeeping to the ladies who made breakfast to the staff who checked us in and out are gems! Whoever hired them did a fantastic job. Each one we encountered were welcoming and friendly. Their smiles were genuine. What stood out and heartwarming to me was that they seem to get along and they even spoke kindly to each other. THAT spoke volumes of the workplace environment. I have no doubt it's due to their leadership that's in place. I CANNOT highly recommend this specific location enough. (I apologize to the owner for saying the incorrect name. But he took it in stride and rolled with it. I mentioned to the business partner my conversation, and that's when I realized I said the wrong name).

I stayed at the hotel for business for one week. The hotel is located just off IH-10, down a small side street (Dos Rios) near two other hotels. The Holiday Inn is a newer hotel with the usual Holiday Inn amenities. The staff was very friendly and provided assistance when needed. Although there is a free breakfast, the hot food items were repetitive (automatic pancake maker, egg white veggie omelet, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage links and sausage patties). Only one day was cheese omelets available. The usual other breakfast items were also available; yogurt, cold cereal, milk, fruit, various breads to toast, cinnamon buns, 3 different juice drinks and oatmeal. The room I stayed in was one of the larger rooms facing towards the front of the hotel on the third floor. It had a long hallway before getting to the restroom area. The restroom had only a shower, no tub in this room. There was a small fridge, microwave and a k-cup coffee machine. The closet has a small safe. In the main area of the room, it was well lit, had a king sized bed and a large flat panel television. Internet wifi reception in the room was adequate and provided enough bandwidth to stream videos.

This hotel was designed to accommodate the traveling guest, not to provide a "home away from home" vibe, which was awesome. Walking into the room the eye is drawn to the strange bench-like surface designed to place your luggage instead of some flimsy collapsible rack. Wanting to unload myself of my sweater and light jacket I was thrilled to find three coat hooks placed just above the luggage bench. I know, dumb, but I thought this was brilliant because I won't forget to grab my things before checking out because they were stashed out-of-sight in the closet. The windows were stylishly covered with double blinds instead of those awful blackout curtains all hotels seem to think of as standard issue. The king size bed was comfy and the shower was beautiful, as hotel showers go. Our only disappointment was the breakfast; items were not stocked (no idea what they were supposed to be because they were empty), the pancake maker was jammed, and there was only one sausage patty in the chafing dish. There was absolutely no fruit (the missing items perhaps?) or granola (walnuts are not granola). Overall a pleasant experience with just the one snafu.

I was traveling on the road, and it was getting late and I needed to get some rest. I chose this hotel because of the reviews and good remarks. Check in was good and friendly, and the room was very comfortable. The bedding and pillows were great. The only problem in the room was the AC was loud with a rattling sound, and the fan in the bathroom was broken and had an unbearable whine when it turned on. It was late and I needed to get some rest so I didn’t bring this to the attention of the front desk as it wasn’t that important to me at the time. The next morning, I almost didn’t stop in the breakfast area because I was in a hurry, but I’m glad I stopped in to eat. The food quality and cleanliness and service at breakfast at this hotel is amazing. I am on the road at least every other week for 3 to 4 days. this hotel blows a lot of other hotels out of the water when it comes to breakfast. The omelette was great as well as the meat options and other options that were laid out. What really put things over the top was the amazing breakfast attendant making sure everyone was doing well and everything was refreshed accordingly. i’m sorry I don’t remember her name, but she did an amazing job, what I consider beyond concierge level. She should definitely be recognized and rewarded for her wonderful kind nature, and amazing service standards. The eating area was impeccable, and clean. All tables were ready for patrons to sit down and enjoy their breakfast. This hotel is a nice little diamond in the rough, and definitely will be on my list of stops when I’m on the road. Something else to note, was how clean the entry was by the front desk when I arrived the day before and as I was leaving. It even smelled clean and you could smell it throughout the hotel, a nice fresh scent. I noticed in the morning the housekeeping staff was quick at work early and also very friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. Again another refreshing thing to see when you’re on the road. Thank you for a great, relaxing, and great experience...

Terrible experience! There are 3 hotels all ran by the same owner! Absolute horrible location. Don’t stop at this town if you’re driving!!!! The people are rude and racist! Stopped by for the night and checked in to the Roadway inn, was there for literally 30 mins upon check inn and got attacked by a loose pitbull. Thank God I’m 6’2 225 and I was able to kick the pitbull off of me and avoid any serious injury to myself (had it been a lighter less experienced person it would have gotten ugly). After the attacked I was dangerously approached by the pit bulls owner saying every racial slur in the book to me and my family, also threatening my life claiming he’ll have me killed by the night (keep in mind im traveling and have never been to this town or heard of it in my life). I took it upon myself to avoid conflict and leave. I went to check out at the front desk and was brought to my attention by the front desk clerk that the guy who was harassing me actually lived there on premises! The clerk told me to go to the holiday inn express and check in there because the hotels were ran by the same owner. She also told me that she’ll have both hotels fully refunded for the horrible experience I had. Also spoke to the front desk receptionist at the Holiday inn and she told me the same thing that the rooms would be refunded! Come to find out they were lying and charged me over $100 for the night. Still to this day I have not gotten any type of refund for getting attacked by a pitbull and harassed and threatened by the dog owner! All in all horrible experience and would not recommend this town to anyone traveling or...
