We stayed here overnight while making our way across western Texas. The campground is a half mile south of I-10 along Main Street, on the southern side of the North Llano river, which flows behind the tents sites at the back of the park. There’s some minor road noise from Main Street, but you don’t really hear the interstate. Both the roads and the site pads are hard packed dirt covered with gravel. All the sites have grass on both sides of the pad, and most sites have a picnic table and at least one adjacent, shade producing tree. The tree next to our site (site 33) no longer had any leaf-bearing limbs, but we had the largest passenger-side yard in the park, along with a pergola-covered patio with chairs, a picnic table, a BBQ grill and two fire rings. Our site was a bit unlevel side-to-side, but nothing we couldn’t handle with a board under one site of tires and our leveling jacks. The spacing between sites on our end of the park was generous for a private campground.
The grass lawns and the open spaces on the outer edge of the campground provide plenty of places to walk dogs, and there are a few dog stations throughout the park. There is an enclosed dog park, but it’s a bit small and made out of 3-foot high livestock fencing panels, which a number of larger dog breeds could jump over if they were so inclined. The large tree inside the dog park was still decorated with holiday lights, and I spotted a solar-powered security light attached to the tree, presumably to help light the park after dark. I saw similar solar lights above site numbers and other small signs in the park, which was a nice touch because the only significant overhead lighting in the park is around the office building at the front; the rest of the park, particularly the last two rows, is pretty dark.
In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna was 18Mbps down and 7 up, and I had no issues with streaming video. The one speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 29Mbps down and 4 up. Despite not being near a WiFi tower, the WiFi signal was quite strong, with 28Mbps down and 15 up.
The campground staff were very helpful. We were guided to our site and warned that we might experience a brief water outage as they were doing some work on the pipes, but if they shut it off we didn’t notice. We asked if it would be okay if we could stay an hour past the normal 11am check-out time (we couldn’t check into our next campground until mid-afternoon), and they said that was fine since no one else was scheduled to take over our site that day. And they apologized that they couldn’t refill my propane tank because their refill equipment needed inspection: hopefully they get that operational again soon, as I couldn’t find anywhere else in town that provides refills.
We would definitely stay here again if we were...
Read moreWe have stopped at this RV park for years and they always provide first rate service. This is a basic park but is well kept and the personnel is always friendly and helpful. Easy to get to right off 10. Every time I get there I think I will hit the entry opening as it seems narrow for big rigs but they must have planned it right so far I have not taken out either post They have 62 sites 20 of which are pull thru. The rest rooms are clean and plenty of hot water. While they have a pool it is only suitable in warm weather. We had a pull thru site that had a large yard with patio and overhang to protect from sun. It also had a grill for charcoal The park is along the North Llano River which is clearly marked swim at your own risk and it seemed to be running at a fast pace, so heed the note. The grounds are large spaces and it has two dog runs one large on and one more suitable for smaller dogs. I will warn you it gets muddy when it rains and they did not have poop bags when we were there so bring your own . I would recommend they add an additional trash barrel in the large run for disposing of poop. There was only one in the small run and if someone was in there with their dogs you had to secure your dogs outside to drop it in the can.
Like I said we have stopped there many times and usually you can get a space but still would recommend calling in high season, as it is a popular stop. Like many of the older parks the electric post need better securing and some outlets need replacement.
The offer daily and longer term.
They have excellent Wifi
We recommend this place and we have been RV'er for over 25 years and have visited RV parks coast to coast. While we consider this a basic park it still is excellent
They offer Good...
Read moreWhere do I begin? This was one of the worst campgrounds I've ever stayed in for multiple reasons. First, when we arrived they acted like they didn't know that we would have two vehicles or the length of our RV but I literally didn't make the reservation until I knew the size of the RV we were renting. Therefore they moved us to a different spot that did not have a charcoal grill and did not have the pergola giving us shade. Two things I specifically asked for when making my reservation. The owners or managers were less than friendly when checking in, but the guy who showed us to our spot was downright rude! One time when coming back in the park I accidentally drove through an empty campsite and he ran me down on his golf cart, almost causing me to hit him because he drove up from behind on the passenger side of the car and then swung around in front of me forcing me to stop so he could come up to the drivers side window and chew me out about driving thru an empty campsite. I honestly had no idea I had even done that because there's more dirt than grass and no real distinction to most of the sites so it's hard to tell the sites from the road at times. Also I'm grateful we were able to shower in our RV because the bathrooms are majorly outdated and the shower stalls are absolutely disgusting. The toilet area seemed somewhat clean, enough to go to the bathroom, but the shower stalls either had soap scum or paint visibly peeling down the walls in huge chunks. I would not have showered in there even if I had to! If I could give a 0 or minus rating I would. It's unfortunate, because the campground itself is a beautiful location and it has Llano River access but this place needs serious updating and better customer...
