Amazing location just outside of Homer with gorgeous views of Kachemak Bay! We camped one night in the meadow, access is very easy and they have power outlets, hotplates, running water and a campfire area nearby in the pavilion. Make sure you set up your tent to wake up to a view of the mountains. The beach hideaway cabin located right off the ocean was cozy and private, it had a comfortable bed and small wood stove for cooking and heating. We enjoyed the privacy and easy access to the beach where you get wide open views of the bay and mountains on the other side. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, they definitely add to the charm of the place. Ask Mossy about the various birds that use the farm as a sanctuary and check with Conni about which wild plants the horses like to eat. Would highly recommend to backpackers, birders, nature lovers, and anyone else looking to stay in Homer on a budget!

Warm and inviting, this is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very down to earth, with the beauty of nature all around. A working farm, Mossy provides the sweetest service. Several different spots to choose as a cabin, the main lodge, or even camp on her field with a tent, and take in the breathtaking views while wandering the beach on Katchemack Bay. Explore the hillside, watch birds in their natural habitats, or sit with a beverage and a good book. Waking in the morning, to a cool mountain air, with the sun warming the deck, is refreshing. The cabins are spotless, with the necessities, and fresh bottled water for drinking too. Mossy's love of life and nature shine through in this beautiful retreat. Be sure to check in so you too can enjoy Alaska and reunite with nature from a cozy and natural corner of the world. Mossy's corner of paradise. Thank you Mossy. We will be back.

I stayed at the furthest cabin, which requires a walk of 0.3mile long and 54ft high elevation to the parking lot. It sucks especially with luggage and rain/wind/ when it’s dark outside. Both me and my husband slipped once on the way to the cabin. I don’t think the room is well taken care of since the cups are dusty, the matches are wet and no window can open (needed when you use the candles, since no electricity) a lot of spider webs in the outhouse. Also the cabinets are right above the pillow, which almost gave me concussion when I tried to get out of bed. Also the host’s notes are everywhere. There are six in the bathroom and 8 in the entrance to the common area. Three or four inside the cabin. It’s just overwhelming. Good thing is that you do have access to private beach and view of glacier. Which worth a lot.

Room: Dorm (7bd from memory).||I was the only guest so had my choice of beds and the one I took was quite comfortable, but in testing them out I found a few to be slightly less than desirable. But no worse then any other dorm in Alaska really.||The dorm room is quite large but only has access to a small common area and Kitchen downstairs - but FYI guests staying in the main area have a larger kitchen and what looked to be a quite comfortable lounge area. The rustic cabins also looked very cosy.||Also, as budget accomodation in Homer goes this is it, even if you do have to Taxi out/back each day I’m sure it would still be a huge saving however I had no problem hitch hiking - even with my backpack and groceries. But be aware it is some distance from Homer town and the Spit.||And yes it is rustic, and it is a working farm but it’s still extremely tranquil and Mossy is super very nice so I’d recommend and definitely stay again.||They just had a price increase which is now making it average value for the price given its location, but they are not claiming to be anything they aren’t and so for me it still scrapes in a four star, but any more expensive it would be three. Recommend it if your after a farm / cottage stay or just budget accomodation.||Tip: Make sure you visit Bear Creek Winery down the road, $5 tasting is...
