This is a hotel that most likely did not renovate all the rooms after the smoking law went in to affect.
I decided to book this hotel even though there were some recent negative reviews of the rooms & hotel. After spending the day traveling over 300 miles we checked to in to the hotel and so far so good until we entered the room. We started to notice the distinct smell of cigarette smoke which became stronger as we were in the room. We were tired and decided to deal with it until we went to use the shower. The shower curtain had what appeared to be splattered "Blood" (9 -10 spots) on it and was quite visible which was very alarming to my wife and myself that house keeping did not see this. And if they did not see this what else was lurking under the covers for us to experience?
I went to the front desk and the young lady there said she would get a new curtain and install it. I also mentioned my wife and myself could smell cigarette smoke in the room. As we walked back in the room the smoke smell was stronger then before and I asked the employee about it and she said could not smell anything. I did not ask her if she smoked but I should have.
As we went in the bathroom to change the curtain I mentioned that housekeeping should have caught this and cleaned it or replaced it to which she responded that they have a good housekeeping staff! After the young lady left the room my wife and myself decided that we could not stay any longer in the room which was about 45 minutes from the time we check in.
I went to the front desk to inquire about a different room due to the smoke smell and I was informed that the hotel was booked and no other rooms were available. The front desk manager said that she had some Febreze that we could take and spray for which I looked at her in disbelief and requested that my money for the room to be reimbursed and I would be checking out. She agreed and we left for our 2.5 hour ride back home as everything in nearby towns were booked. I did not intend to drive 500 miles in one day but did decided it would be a much better choice then...

Uncomfortable trying to swim with kids my kids around these classes. People who pay top dollar for a room should not have to swim around people who don't stay at the hotel. It should be free swim for paying customers and not worry about anything else. Also people come for classes and take all the parking up front, including handicap spots and nothing left for the paying guess who are handicap. I don't have a issue with what there doing but where. I've never been to a hotel where the manager will put his community image before paying guess. So I will promise to contact owner and inform them that if they can't make sure that the guess aren't priority one do to there staying there and using their resort and expect to be able to use there ammintys without having to wait to use pool or excess closer parking, especially for the handicap people who are staying at the hotel. Also not enough handicap accessibity to second floor when first floor is full. I'm willing to write a review that will catch the eye of people not in Michigan but nationally. It's upsetting I have to write a letter of complaint but if your guess aren't getting what they pay for then you shouldn't be charging them the price you are. But last, I'll say the front desk staff are real friendly and hotel is really nice. Could use a little updated heating and cooling units in the room but all and all I can say the hotel part of this letter is a solid A when it comes to the workers and a D when it comes to having to deal with outside people using the pool area for a few hours and taking all the parking in front of the building and guess's have to park...
Read moreI hate doing this but I really just want to be clear about the experience that my family and I just had.
Checked in and went to use the pool with my kiddos. Unfortunately, decided against doing that when I saw a creepy looking dude hunched over the side of the hot tub by himself and a couple of mid 30 somethings in the corner of the pool looking like they were trying to have a little foreplay in public. "Noped out" of that situation pretty quickly.
Got to our room and got set up before taking my family out to dinner. Things were going pretty well until we got back for the night (we had been traveling for two days and were tired) to see what we later learned would be a "friend of ours" smoking copious amounts of week right by the front door. Not sure why he was outside this time because it became painfully obvious that he has his family were sitting in their room pretty much 24/7 just smoking. The smell was unbearable (this is coming from a guy that doesn't typically mind it).
Our room was not touched or cleaned while we were out. No big deal though... I just went down to the front counter to ask for towels and toilet paper. Unfortunately, the lady at the front counter was super stingy and would only give one roll of toilet paper (I had my wife and two daughters with me, that will last like 15 seconds) and two towels max for some reason?
We ended up checking out a day early because my youngest was couching so much from all of the weed exposure that she was miserable. When we got everything out and I asked to check out, the lady at the front desk just said "ok" and "call Expedia" when I respectfully tried to tell her why we were leaving. She literally seemed like she could not possibly give a crap less.
Oh well. No more All...
