Out of state group, we reserved campsite J for a family/troop campout. We had kids ages 1-11. We will not be returning to this location. The park is lovely and there are lots of things to do, but would suggest staying elsewhere. (Always depends on what kind of stay you want) Group site J is large and shaded, but what the photos dont show are that its just roots, lots and lots of roots. We were closest to the portable toilets and that was a horrible experience. I understand the need for self closing doors with animals, but the constant slamming through the night was jolting, especially if a rowdy group of teens comes together. We were there Fri-Sun and they were never cleaned. Maybe put one at each site so they are used by your own group and kept clean to your standards? Quiet hours were not kept by MANY of the sites. Loud music and hollering til at least midnight and started again at 6:45. Site next to us had a dog even though they aren't allowed. We never saw a ranger drive through to check on anything. When we arrived our site had trash everywhere, our kids picked up about half a black contractors bag at our site alone. Sad that all the money is spent on being a flashy nice visitors center vs ranger salaries to keep up the place. Was excited to see a completed new restroom when we arrived, but sadly the doors were locked and there was no water at the outside sink. Would have loved to have seen a barrier around it or some signage stating that it was closed and when it was planned to open, vs just sitting there looking all pretty and ready to use but locked up. (Also, side note, My spouse had a site in the main campground for medical reasons. He had to wait in line to use the mens toilet that doesnt even happend at...
Read moreGreat little place for some weekend camping. The organized group site DOES NOT have facilities or showers (just porta potties) HOWEVER there are comfortable showers and proper bathrooms around the visitors center just about a half hour away.
Bring bottled water, no water spigot at organized camp sites (water available at visitor center if you bring water containers)
Bring your own fire wood as well; although there is a camp store, again near the visitor center about a half mile up the road.
There's a dollar general and a small grocery store about 10 minute drive away, if you forgot something and need to pick it up.
Beautiful little place, with a lot of natural sight seeing near by, decent signage to help you get around. There are hiking trails, fishing, waterfalls near...
Read moreWe picked this campsite as an out-of-state scout troop seeking a camp location near the great biking opportunities at Lehigh Gorge.
The group campsite we stayed at, "D," has a creek running between the parking area and the campsite. The space was fairly large (the reason we picked it) and has plenty of picnic tables, but in wet or rainy weather you'll need a dining fly (no pavilion) and well-planned routes to water supply, bathrooms, and parking area to account for stream crossing.
The group camp is very easy to miss off the highway. Pay close attention to the directions!
We would go again, but we would pick a different site if the...
