This was not our best camping experience for a few reasons. The camping loop with full hookups seemed as though the RV spots were pretty narrow, so we were close to other occupants on either side of us. Close enough that it deterred us from setting up the canopy. Understandably, the bathrooms on this loop were primitive as there are hookups for vehicles, but not even one shower area available in that loop. We were tent camping on my aunt and uncle’s site and didn’t want to constantly use their hot water, etc. Upon arrival we were instructed in 3 things...quiet hours starting at 9pm, diligently locking food and leaving nothing that would attract bears out overnight and no alcohol. Our first night, the campers in adjacent 2 tent sites arrived and continued to arrive well after 9 PM, proceeded to have a pretty big party (at least 15-20 people coming and going by car all night long, playing music well after midnight, drinking/smoking weed, walking past our tent site with lights flashing into our tent to get to out house repeatedly, opening/closing their car doors including beep to lock, all through 4:30 AM!!!). They had more cars/tents/occupants per site then listed on park website and they left all kinds of trash and beer bottles etc out overnight. Listen, if you want to go out in the middle of the woods and take your chances with bears, be my guest, but don’t invite them into a crowded camp ground. When I contacted the PARK office early the next morning they seemed less than interested in my complaints and brushed me off “we’ll have a park ranger come out and check the scene.” We never did see that happen and the campers were still there the next night as well. So if you are looking for a campsite that actually upholds all the rules and regulations they put out on their website, or cares to ensure a family friendly experience, this is not the place. The last bit of disappointment was early the next morning when we were getting ready to check out we drove over to the tent site loop where we understood there was a bathhouse with shower, only to find somebody cleaning both the men’s and women’s room at 7:30 in the morning while lines of people were waiting to use the facilities. Seems like a bad time to do the cleaning when people are getting up and trying to check out and leave for the day. As we drove through the tent camping sites they were so packed and crammed in we were happy we were not in that mess despite feeling that the RV spots were crowded. Overall, a disappointment with the campgrounds and would not go back...

I booked two nights all alone before college started back up and the all the stress that comes along with family, work and school. This place only upped my stress level. No sleep for either night as there were 2 parties going on in my loop. Quiet time is supposed to be from 10pm to 8am. Yeah right. It was 230am the first night before the party of about 40 people finally went to bed. The second night a party of about 10 people was raging until about 145am. How can these people party so late and wake up by 700 am? This park does not uphold the rules they created. The bathrooms are small but they did the job. With the bad being said, the trails were amazing! I did really enjoy the hiking and all the geocaches. I may try another weekend in the future with my kids. Not...

I have been to this place 8 years ago and visited a month back for camping. This place is amazing , very well maintained , clean , nice restrooms but the number of sites per restroom size could be better. Staffs makes sure the clean restrooms are available for use everyday morning. Unfortunately we were stuck on thunderstorm weekend and all the waters were drained well to nearby creek. So no issues if you think the water might stay at campsite. Check in was easy and onsite campsite is available for any last minute purchase. Nearby food are available within 6 mile distance. Woods we get from campsite was not great and the price is bit higher than outside. Great children’s play area , amphitheater , each loop has strategically placed...

If you expect decent car camping, you will be very pleased. This is a nice, easy getaway from the city. The camp facilities are clean and well-lit. The gate staff were friendly and quick to check us in. There are food/lantern hooks, fire rings, and picnic tables at every site. The staff have done a really nice job maintaining the sites. The signage around the campground and park is above average. Every trail we hiked was marked and maintained (with exception to the Switchback Trail, which had obviously not been recently trekked by park rangers). Overall, a good place to chill out and unplug.

My wife and I stayed a Thursday and Friday night. In general, we like staying at State Park campgrounds because the sites are not crowded and they tend to be quiet. At Hickory Run, the sites are a bit smaller. On Thursday night the campground was mostly empty; by Friday night it was mostly full. But it was a quiet, respectful crowd. The restrooms are clean and bright. Our site electric connection did not work properly when we set up; they came and fixed it the next day. We enjoyed exploring the park and nearby Lehigh Gorge.
