The Mountain Valley Retreat was a perfect getaway, with a beautiful home nestled into the mountainside by a little waterfall. The home is meticulously maintained by the most delightful couple, the hosts Mike and Barb. Just a stone's throw away from the majestic thundering brook falls, it is also conveniently located near Killington Peak and would be a fabulous spot to stay when hitting the ski slopes. There are three cute rooms in the upper level, with charming woodwork and beautiful windows that overlook the mountainside. Mike makes a thoughtful and extremely nourishing breakfast, and is great company for a conversation if you were so inclined. Killington is a cute mountain town with many good restaurants, and would be a good spot to stay when exploring the Green mountains. The drive to Killington is gorgeous, and is just the perfect distance away from Boston for a weekend getaway. Thank you Mike and Barb for a fabulous experience!

I can’t explain how wonderful this experience was for me and my girl. Mike and his wife Barbara made us feel right at home and were so very accommodating. The home is charming and set on the cutest property nestled up against the mountain. Our bedroom had a view of a mountain spring waterfall and the running water sound was so nice to fall asleep to. Before bed we both shared a bottle of wine outside on the deck, gazing at stars and listening to Moonlight in Vermont by Sinatra. Mike even brought us blankets. It couldn’t have been more romantic and perfect. The home has a scent of maple syrup and in the morning we were treated to a great breakfast of homemade French toast. It can’t get better and we will be back again to have a special get-away at this wonderful B&B.

We stayed here while skiing at Killington Resort, and it was a fantastic experience. The location is great—just a short drive to the mountain. Mike and Barb were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The breakfast was hot, delicious, and the perfect way to start a ski day. Our room was wonderful—it felt like being in a cozy treehouse! It was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and we slept great after long days on the slopes. we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm and charming place to stay near Killington.

One of the nicest places I’ve stayed at in a long time, probably ever, this property is beautifully remote surrounded by trees and mountains and pure nature, the faint sounds of birds in the morning and the absolutely stunning night sky are enough to impress but it only gets better. The house sits on the base of a small mountain overlooking the valley the mountains create, the views from both rooms are amazing and the house itself is beautifully built and exceptionally clean. Our hosts Mike and Barb are the absolute sweetest, most accommodating, and open minded people I’ve ever met, both of them are a joy to talk to and be around late at night or early in the morning when Mikes making breakfast. Breakfast is set to your preference and the eating nook overlooks the valley and hills soaked in Vermont sun, the food itself was deliciously made and beautifully served with coffee or tea and freshly squeezed orange juice (seriously freshly squeezed) alongside faint music and a nice conversation. It’s hard to not keep listing good things but every aspect of this b&b is perfect. I don’t think any other hotel or stay you have will compare to the mountain valley retreat, I genuinely recommend anyone who loves Vermont (the most beautiful state), nature, pure beauty, and the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, to stay here at least a night maybe more, I think you’ll need Mike’s breakfast...

I booked both rooms with a family member for a skiing holiday. I chose MVR because of the fantastic reviews on trip advisor. I do not dispute what visitors have said about the venue, breakfast etc., it seemed a delightful find and we thought we had chosen well. |However we were appalled one evening when our host’s mood turned very ugly to the point of barely controlled rage. This was brought about by us returning one evening unable to access the main road because of a snow storm. Our car was not a 4WD and could not negotiate the ramp of snow at the junction to the main road. He had said, before we left, if we couldn’t get out he was happy to sort some food for us. A baked potato and cheese, for which we offered to pay. We were extremely uncomfortable and he made some attempt to apologise the next day but it was totally unacceptable behaviour. |A local person suggested we did a search of the owner on google. We did, and it did not make pleasant reading. |We have made a full complaint to the Vermont tourist board, who have assured me that it will be taken...
