My family went this weekend for the annual Halloween event...we have been going to this event since our children were toddlers.they are now 31 and 28 yrs old with children of their own. Each year things are getting so different at this park... BUT it's not for the good.used to be the PAYING campers that camped there their children and grandchildren trick or treated through the park.then every year the event seemed to be MORE people coming in because word of mouth was taking effect from past campers talking about what a wonderful time it was and how everyone decorated their campsites and how awesome it was....BUT greed seemed to has come into play as years have passed...the park decided they would start charging people not people who are camping in there but the Public...The park even posted it on FACEBOOK... come one come all trick or treating event at the expense of the paying campers they pay for their sites...decorate them too!And best of all have plenty of candy to give out! And you would think activities would be going on for paying campers all weekend long... NOTHING but raking in $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children up to 15 yrs old. This year the park even put a flashing sign on the main highway that leads to the park announcing the special Halloween event...with that being said the only activity the park DID sponsor was selling popcorn and drinks to people that came to the event... NOT only has this year's event made us rethink where we want to celebrate next year and I hope it's not KMSP!!! A paying camper who decorated and has plenty of candy to give out at least deserves a free...
Read moreNeat place. Most camp sites have drive through parking where we stayed. Power and water. We ended up close to a restroom so that was handy. No run in personally with any animals but heard raccoons were around. And a big snake. But it's the woods. We saw fire flies in June so that was cool being from Florida. The places you can hike to are cool but watch out for water snakes near the waterfall! We saw a poisonous one but luckily just saw it vs meeting it. The little store in the front has general supplies and walking sticks. There isn't much close to do around this park so if you are going, plan to just hang out vs venture during the day. They had Colonial Days when we went which was a neat thing for our Cub scout pack to see. They let the kids try on clothes from the era, and weave yarn or make wax stamps to letters etc. It was a...

The campground is clean, quiet, and surrounded by thick forest that makes every site feel private and peaceful. The trails are well-marked and offer everything from easy walks to more challenging hikes, and the views are incredible—especially from higher elevations where you can see the mountains roll on for miles.
We brought a drone and captured some amazing overhead shots of the winding roads and the dense tree canopy—nature lovers and photographers will be in heaven here. The park is well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and it never felt overcrowded even on a weekend.
Whether you're camping, hiking, taking photos, or just relaxing in the woods, this park has it all. We’ll definitely be...
