Cute, quiet, and cozy little hotel! Easy walking distance to Lanai City and a quick drive to beaches, views, and hikes. The beds were insanely comfortable, the rooms were spotless and surprisingly high-tech (bidet toilet with heated seat, variety of light and curtain settings, etc.), and the TV and room fridge were great to have. We also loved the blackout curtains and the 12pm check-out time. Sadly, the attached restaurant wasn’t open the days of our stay (closed Sun-Mon), but with easy access to dining in town this was no problem. Simple and appreciated continental breakfast served daily.
A couple notes for future guests / things that could enhance this place even more:
This is the countryside, so roosters will crow as early as 3am! Having earplugs as a light sleeper came in handy. We paid extra for a lanai room only to discover that it overlooks the (albeit tiny) parking lot. In our opinion it wasn’t worth it and actually felt less private than the garden rooms probably did. I don’t know if it was just our room, but the door to the lanai and the sliding door to the bathroom were quite heavy. It was okay for us, but I kept thinking that for older folks or anyone with shoulder issues this could be a hazard. Since this is a small hotel, be aware that you won’t have access to staff 24/7. Also, make sure to schedule your check-in time accurately to ensure someone’s at the desk when you arrive. The trash can in the room was tiny. Luckily we had packed our own trash bags for food containers, etc., but a bigger trash can would have definitely come in handy.
Despite its quirks, this place was a great stay overall and a wonderful option if you’re looking for a chill, affordable...
Read moreI was there for a business meeting with an overnight stay paying about $255 for my room. BTW, the room while nice, didn't have a TV or AC. The setting was very nice in that you really feel like you are in the country until you check in at the front desk. The guy at the desk was very stoic and unfriendly. He showed us to our rooms but it felt like we were bothering him. I needed ice for my room and per the instructions on my check in flier I should go to the front desk or the Lanai Bar & Grill so I went to the front desk, no one was there and noticed the doors to the restaurant was ajar. I knocked then walked in and said "hello" a few times with no response. Soon thereafter the clerk and another woman appeared. The clerk looked at me like what are you doing here? I explained that I was looking for ice and he informed me he could help me at the front desk for which I responded "but no one was there". He stated he would bring the ice to my room. Sadly, he already made me feel like a second class citizen and I can't believe this happens in Hawaii let alone the USA. My staff member also felt the same vibes. We had heard from locals who live on Island of the suppression they feel from owner Ellison and Pulama Lana'i for fear of losing their jobs if they speak out. So Hotel Lana'i, you need to train your staff to be more customer friendly to ALL guests including Hawaii locals especially since we ALL pay with the same American dollar. With the exception of the restaurant which was awesome in customer service and food/wine, your clerk could use some training in FRIENDLY...
Read moreCute little hotel in Lāna'i City! From the outside you wouldn't think much of it, but the rooms are nicely renovated and feel very spa like. Lights, temperature and shades are controlled using electronic panels in the room and the toilet was a Toto! Bed was super comfy. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. It's right by the town square and in very short walking distance of the island's stores and restaurants. While not inexpensive it's the island's "budget" alternative to the four seasons. Grounds are meticulously maintained and rooms are very clean.||||Why I didn't give this property 5 stars - they need to do better work with sound reduction. The first night the restaurant was closed so I didn't expect noise. I could hear the neighbors talking in their room, when they passed in the hall and it wasn't muffled. You could literally hear word for word. I had to turn my tv on just to muffle what they were watching. The second night the restaurant was open and it was SO LOUD. It sounded like there was a band playing in my bathroom. After the band stopped, there were some noisy patrons that took a while to clear out. Fortunately with corona restrictions the restaurant couldn't stay open super late so we were able to get to bed at a reasonable hour. It just made it hard to enjoy the room which you'd want to do because there isn't much going on at night. Ask for the rooms furthest from the restaurant and you'll fare a little better on the noise. Also, the continental breakfast was far too basic for the price point...
