Hampton Inn LaGrange
This Hilton property was built in 2018 has definitely made steps to raise the bar and keep the image of a top notch, but affordable Hampton Hotel stay.
As a Hilton Honors Lifetime Diamond member- I’ve experienced a great number of good, bad and ugly. This location is in the good and possibly great category in my opinion.
This property is conveniently located near I-85 on the outskirts of downtown LaGrange. The delightful staff was accentuated by the pleasant southern charm and hospitality of the breakfast area queen: Gwendolyn. She is very attentive and friendly. She goes out of her way to make every effort to welcome and encourage each guest.
The rooms are fairly clean and have been mostly maintained to Hilton’s high standards of excellence. Kudos to the owners for taking the initiative and investment to make this location attractive and affordable to potential guests.
Here are my PROS & CONS of choosing this hotel:
PROS: LOCATION - quick access to I-85 and nearby LaGrange AFFORDABLE- our rooms with AAA were only $129.14 (with $21.20 in taxes) for a 2 queen bed, microwave, fridge, free WiFi, free breakfast & fitness room). A great bang for your bucks. FRIENDLY STAFF - the amazing and helpful staff has a very welcoming and supportive attitude. It nice having some of that southern hospitality for a change. COMFORTABLE- the beds are relatively relaxing and a great place to rest. They are firmer than my mattress at home. But nevertheless- very comfortable. FAST WiFi - we experienced no problems with the internet and feel it met our expectations. FITNESS - the fitness room has a wide variety of equipment including Peloton bike, Elliptical trainer, free weights and much more. Great variety of good equipment.
CONCERNS: (these were communicated to front desk staff - but no corrections made during our stay) CLEANLINESS - the bathroom in our room needed more cleaning. Rust stains in shower (that a Mr Clean sponge would easily eliminate). The grout tile floors near shower appear to have black mold 😩 LEAKS - ice machine near business office was leaking. BATH MIRROR - room 107 needs replaced. It has signs of damage. LOBBY BATHROOM- needs attention. It was dirty and no paper toweling in men’s room. BUSINESS CENTER - only 1 kiosk (PC) works and only 1 chair??? TRAVEL FLIER AREA - near business office has signs of being super dirty and very limited selections. BREAKFAST- while beggars shouldn’t be picky. The breakfast was good. It just was missing some things to my liking: no almonds or fresh berries for oatmeal or toppings other things. No gluten free options. Toaster needs cleaned out. Almond or oat milk would be another great option for those with dairy allergies. HHONORS TREATS. Instead of having these items (crackers, peanuts, chips or cookies) on front counter to encourage membership- they are placed on an office supply tray behind the counter. Are they ashamed of Hilton Honors program?! 🤔 OUTDOORS - the planter in front of hotel is dead. It either needs removed or replaced. It 😵
SUMMARY - this affordable and conveniently located hotel is a good choice for getting a good night of rest. The hotel does need some basic maintenance & additional cleaning. However, the delightful personality of Gwendolyn and other staff made our stay a...
Read moreFirst impression is: just a regular road side motel, nothing special. When I present my Id, clerk said I did not have reservation. My son booked the room for me with his travel credit card. Been doing that for few years all over the country with different brand of hotels, including Hampton inn elsewhere. No problem been raised before. The confirmation email from the travel card had my name as primary guest. But the clerk said my name was not in their system. She said I had to ask my son to go back to third party reservation company and add my name on it. Period! After lot of texting, emails still waiting for credit card company and their travel division to work on that, still cannot get it through. At the mean time, after long hours of driving hoping to have a good hot shower and a good rest in the bed, I was still waiting for the clerk to approve my stay. I believe the name on her name tag started with letter”K”. Finally my son gave up on being passed around companies to resolve the problem, he asked to talk to the motel clerk. She got in the phone and said “ I just need to talk to the person who placed the reservation to verify I can stay there”. Then she checked me in. With all the insistence on her part and 45 minutes of waiting, it could have been resolved with just one word “yes” speaking with my son. What a waste of my resting time. The clerk definitely need some training. Not because of that episode that I am bias with my opinion with this motel. Please see pictures I enclosed. Slime and mildew in the shower tub that could have been removed by one shot of Tilex when cleaning. One minute for the maintenance person to change a cracked bathroom light switch. This is an electric shock health hazard that could kill people. The sliding bathroom door is spring loaded very hard. And the latch is made of stainless steel with crisp edge. I don’t know how many ladies had broke their nails on it. I am a person who work with my hands a lot. Even me, felt hard to use that latch to open/shut the door. The latch is full of filth. See picture. Lastly, the breakfast is there, but dead. Made people feel like it is there because of brand requirement, not there to make guests to have a good day start. Now, the only good thing of about this motel. Shower water pressure has to be on top of the rating. Good water pressure and hot water. It washed away all my frustration cumulated from...
Read moreMy husband and I arrived 10/19/23 at about 11pm on a reservation made over a year ago for three nights to attend a wedding. We pre selected room 111. Upon our arrival we found the door to this room unsecured with the deadbolt exposed keeping the door open, light were on, and pillows on bed with indentations. We went to the desk and were informed by the attendant that he put that room out of order the night before due to the lock being inoperable, but that management wanted to sell the room. The hotel was sold out. With no rooms available, I was scurrying to secure a room at another hotel. The attendant located another Hampton Inn in Alabama that was available for one night only. So we traveled to that hotel not knowing where we would get dressed the next day for the wedding. On the 10/20 we went back to this hotel and requested to speak with management. We spoke with the assistant manager, who apologized for the inconvenience We requested to be compensated for the night spent at the Alabama Hampton Inn. She stated that her supervisor Marilyn M. would have to make that decision and would call us later. Upon our arrival back at the Hampton Inn in Alabama, fortunately they had a cancellation and we could secure a room for the next two nights. I placed 5 calls to Marilyn over the next five days and each time I called she was never there. I called Guest Assistance and they apologized for the inconvenience but after speaking with two individuals on two separate occasions, the resolution was for us to call the manager Marilyn at the facility for resolution. This is the same person that appeared to never be at work or even took the opportunity to return a call. I then attempted to contact Hilton Corporate Offices and received the same response. Who owns the Lagrange Ga Hampton Inn? I need to speak with someone who will listen, take action, and make a decision. I have been a Hilton Honors member for over 20 years and this was the worst experience I have ever had with Hilton. This was the first time, when I had a concern there was no accountability or resolution. Again, who owns this Hampton Inn or is the supervisor of...
