We took a group of five women to Cassadaga. The outing was planned by me for my birthday. Cassadaga is where I go to recharge and I wanted to share it with my family of great friends. Every time I've been to Cassadaga, I've stayed at the hotel, but they don't allow anyone under 21 to stay, even with parents/grandparents. One of our group is 16.
They were currently not serving breakfast, while I didn't ask, I'm guessing they're upgrading the kitchen facilities so food service in the B&B is currently suspended. There was a mini fridge in both rooms, and had we needed it, a microwave on the floor. There was a cute little bar and common area on the first floor where we played cards in the evening.
Every time I called with any questions, Emily was forthcoming with answers, advice, and everything I needed. We even added the 5th person at the last minute and she provided a cot in one of the rooms (it was really a soft, comfortable, little twin bed).
We were treated to a history lesson about the property and surrounding areas when we checked in, and given a tour of the grounds of the B&B.
Our rooms were in the Carriage House. They were comfortable, clean, light & airy, and filled with good energy. The B&B is walking distance to the center of town in Cassadaga, and everyone was pleased with our...
Read moreThe place is not like the picture. Exterior needs a total overhaul, paint, porches etc. The interior first floor is totally restored with antique furniture. Our host, Emily, gave us an historical summary of the property and they had purchased it after it was vacant for years and looted. They did a lot of work and have a modern kitchen, but no breakfast due to covid. LOL Obvious a labor/cost saving move. We did not stay in the main building but inn the carriage house in the back. It was clean and lovely but the huge staircase in then main building was just not what we wanted to climb. We were satisfied but disappointed that there was no guest mingling at a nice breakfast. There was a screened porch off our room so we decided to have a relaxing glass of wine and enjoy the quiet of the nature preserve....until the landscapers came through with the mowers, edgers, and leaf blowers for the next two hours. These grounds are not well groomed and the ruts from the road through the driveway caused the car, and SUV, to bottom out and drag. There's a difference between rustic and unsatisfactory. Its 6-10 miles to food or any shopping. Pass...
Read moreEmily & (The) Ann Stevens House, “ they” have wooed me so much, that they now have a new “regular”, for many years to come ♥️ From beginning to end, I was absolutely impressed with Emily, the owner, and how she ran the Inn. Despite my son and I showing up without announcement, to inquire about a stay that evening, she kindly accommodated us. Not only that, but she took the time to tell us all about the history behind the Inn, and Ann Stevens herself. Emily was so kind to tell me the story as if it was her first time telling it, because she knew it was my first time hearing it. I really love history, especially when it comes to historical houses. Breakfast was delicious as well! Before we were on our way, she was kind enough to take the time to give us several recommendations when I asked, upon what to explore with my son. You can really tell that her and her husband have really put their hearts in to the home and the grounds surrounding it. I can’t thank them enough for allowing us to have a little impromptu stay, and I cannot wait until I can come back for...
