We stayed here in August 2019 for one night while on the last leg of our road trip. We were searching online for a place to stay in the area and we were immediately drawn to this Inn when we visited the website. The website has a picture of a lighthouse on the main page and describes a lighthouse within a short walk from the Inn. This is the main reason we wanted to stay here. The rate was reasonable, but it certainly wasn't the lowest in the area. However, we were willing to pay a little more for what we thought would be a wonderful location with just a few minutes walk to a beautiful lighthouse. After we arrived and checked in to our room we were immediately disappointed. The Inn was not in a wonderful location overlooking the lake. In fact, any view of the lake required a walk down the street and past a golf course. Even when you get to view the lake, there is no clear view of the lighthouse as the area is grown in and many trees block it. There is also signage on the street indicating limited access during certain hours. The lack of any lake view from the Inn was a major disappointment for us. The picture of the lighthouse and the description on the website is a little misleading. We were also disappointed to find that the restaurant, which is described on the website, was closed while we were there. Unfortunately the parking lot was not very well kept and had a lot of dips when we were there. ||Overall, our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I think if we are in the area again, we would stay at one of the other hotels with...
Read moreWe recently drove from Chicago to Boston and back and we overnight in Erie which is halfway.||I was so happy to find the Lighthouse Inn, a family owned and operated "motor court" type motel. We loved its simplicity; authenticity and true "creature comforts" so lacking in some places we've stayed. We loved the parking right in front of our first floor room, the brass key on a room tag, immaculate room and bath with a comfortable bed with crisp, fresh linen, great "air quality"--(perfect temp, no weird smells), no noise, black out curtains, powerful shower, and full service TV. In other words, ALL the elements we really needed to rest comfortably. Next to it ran a beautiful stream, autumn colored trees, and very close was the shore of Lake Erie. It was so economical; we treated ourselves to a killer breakfast at a nearby 75-year-old aluminum clad diner in the morning. The owners are a friendly couple who personally handled every aspect of our stay. It is now our automatic booking going to and from Boston when we visit...
Read moreThere was no service. I had to buy my own toilet paper because I could not find anyone after 6pm and the cleaning staff didn't refill it 2 times in a row. Who leaves less than half a roll for 2 people? One of the beds had stains all over the sides of the box spring. My biggest issue was the shower. Every time I showered the shower curtain would blow into the tiny shower a stick to me. I have yet to get the wifi code. It was not provided at check in and once again, i could not find anyone. The room smells damp. There is no ice machine. You have to go to the office to get ice, but when there is no one there .... good luck. The drink machine was broken. I'm done with this place. There has to be a better place for around the same price or just a few bucks more.
The restaurant has had good food in the past. We waited for a few minutes a couple times to get seated, but we ended up leaving bother times. There are too many other restaurants around begging for our hard earned money that cost less and we can get...
