We enjoyed our time at Stehekin Lake Cabin! The scenery was beautiful and we particularly enjoyed being right on the water to take advantage of the provided water craft and because it moderated some otherwise hot temps in the area. The cabin is clean and is well stocked with the cooking basics (seasonings, cooking oil, condiments, etc.). The Garden and Pastry company are very close, and even rainbow Falls is an easy bike ride!
Two items which I’d like to expand upon:
we were nervous about an incoming heat wave forecasted during our stay. AC is not available at the cabin, but several fans are provided. The cabin did well, especially cooling off at night, with temps up to 90. Above that, it did get a bit toasty in the cabin. If you’re sensitive to heat, take this into consideration when deciding what month to book.
as another review states, there is some construction noise during the summer season 2025 coming from a neighboring property. This seems to be mostly partial days on Monday and Thursday, and all day Tuesday and Wednesday. There was no construction on Friday - Sunday. I understand why this is disappointing for those seeking peace and quiet, but what can Peter do? His neighbor has the right to do construction on their home, and guests (or at least, I) would be very disappointed if Peter wholesale cancelled all the summer reservations due to the noise. My recommendation is to take this information and make plans to be out and about exploring Stehekin on the days when they’re doing construction, then enjoy the cabin itself on the days when they aren’t. We found our stay to be highly enjoyable despite the noise on some days!
We’d love to come back...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful five days in the sun and warmth of its rays. Several dips right off the dock to cool off, several kayak trips and floats soaking all the wilderness. The silence, river and stars have a healing magic. Perfect location walkable to bakery and garden. Bikes were great for a quick trip to the the falls, the old school and the House that Jack Built. Cabin is outfitted with all the spices, dishes, towels, blankets, books, PFDs, games, binoculars you could possibly need. Herons, Fish, Ducks, Otters, Bats, Swallows, Hawks, and Frogs await!...
Read moreCozy, well-stocked cabin with great views and convenient location to Stehekin sites, with bikes and boats to get around included. This would have been the perfect place to stay except for the MAJOR CONSTRUCTION going on right next door from early morning until late (9pm!) at night that the Lake Cabin owners knew about but failed to warn us in advance. From the looks of things and talking to other neighbors this is a significant renovation project, so the Lake Cabin is NOT the “tranquil” place to stay in...
