We don’t have a lot of time to go on trips, but we had two days and a show to see at Foxwoods, so I looked all around the area at hotel after hotel and since it’s a weekend at the end of Summer, everything was incredibly expensive and close to sold out. None of the prices were worth any amount of what they were charging. I was looking for something special for these two rare days, and special is exactly what we got at Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn. I’ve worked in hotels for most of my life, so I was hesitant to stay at a locally owned bed and breakfast, not sure what I would find. But I’m so glad I chose this place. We came in later than expected and were able to check-in on our own with a code so we had privacy if we wanted and didn’t have to wait in any lines. However, Erika was right there to greet us when the code didn’t work the first time and fixed it immediately and was always there if we needed anything at all. The room was classic, clean and comfortable. Everything worked as expected and there were so many wonderful details and touches that are almost always absent from standard hotels due to size and carelessness. The breakfast each morning was delivered to our room by Peter who was always kind and right at the time we chose. Everything was delicious and fresh and had its own touch of uniqueness that made even scrambled eggs and juice more enjoyable to eat on top of the freshly baked croissants, and coconut yogurt and bananas. I don’t really like yogurt at all but thought I would try it. I ate all of it and wished for more. We were able to eat out on the deck and enjoy the large beautiful trees surrounding the place and the crickets chirping in the woods. You would never know that one of the largest casinos in the world was just 5 miles away on the other side of the trees. We slept great each night and were always asked if we needed anything at all throughout the stay. Both Erika and Peter were seen working hard tending to the property and the guest rooms, along with the garden where so many of the delicious ingredients for the breakfast come from. Check out was a breeze and sad since we didn’t want to leave. We would have loved to have more time to enjoy the nature trail, the cozy fire pit and chairs outside, the fireplace in our room, even the hammocks! We will absolutely be back when we can. We definitely did not know what to expect, but were so glad for the experience we had there and implore everyone to do the same. There is always a franchised hotel brand wherever you want to go, but there is only one Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn!

Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn is one of the (many) reasons I love my wife. She finds places like this for us to enjoy and every time I'm utterly blown away by their sheer perfection. At Abbey's we stayed in The Cottage, the sole detached room at the Lantern Hill Inn, and it was exceptional. Immaculate, comfortable, welcoming, and quiet, it was cozy but never cramped, cute but not cloying, elegant without being ostentatious. One of the things I particularly love about Abbey's Lantern Hill is its location. It is uniquely situated as an excellent base of operations for day trips to the various places of interest surrounding it: either of the two casinos, Mystic, Westerly, Narraganset, Newport, even New Haven or Providence. But the clear cherry on top has to be the food. Offering breakfast in your room or the dining room, Erika prepared us breakfasts that were masterful, elegant, and as filling as they were delicious. My personal favorite was The Spin, an amazing breakfast sandwich that featured a fried egg, pesto, and roasted red peppers on slices of grilled croissant bread. Divine. Given the number of people we saw flocking to casino/resort rooms and accommodations closer to the shore, we now know we were far better off than any of them. Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn sets a high bar--one the surrounding competition can't compete with, in my opinion. We loved our stay and hope to be back very soon. OH! Almost forgot. The VERY best thing was that, not only are they pet friendly, they thanked our two big Bernese Mountain Dogs for staying at Abbey's by leaving puppy treats for them as a snack for the road. Doesn't get any better. I travel a lot, and I will constantly compare my experiences elsewhere with the overall experience we had at Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn. They are now the standard against which I'll rate all others. They're that good. Try them.

This is a wonderful place to stay. I met Erika but not Peter. Myself, my wife, and our dog (Bentley) needed one night out and away from everyday life. My wife found Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn on the internet as a dog friendly place so I booked a Friday night. It is so close to Foxwoods that I could walk there in 15 minutes or so, yet you would have no idea you are anywhere else than in the countryside. We stayed in the Cottage, the one room which allows pets. What's great for us is that it was separate from the main house, which allowed us to be a little less quiet (but not noisy). I brought a portable projector and we watched a couple of movies. I ordered takeout from California Pizza Kitchen at Foxwoods, and got my 20 minutes of gambling in while waiting for the food. There is an enclosed patio in the back which allowed us to let Bentley out for fresh air without having to worry about a leash. Erika cooked a great breakfast in the morning, food way better than dinner the night before. There was 3 choices for breakfast. We chose tasty eggs, bacon, and wonderful bread. Coffee was up at 7AM and breakfast 8-10AM. Erika brought our breakfast to our cottage after I had walked to the main house to order. I will definitely be considering coming back here in the future. It's serene and right next to evening fun if you choose to do so. THe Cottage was clean, the bed comfortable, and we got exactly what we wanted from our night out.

Update: Currently I still have Fraud Charges against you 3 months later. Your facility is being investigated because this has happened multiple times.

I am still fighting the bank for hundreds of dollars you charged. It's called breaking the law.

In addition to that, you are using my and my husband's legal name on multiple platforms, which is breaking policy. I never even used your first name.

Looking out for posts where you pretend to by my patient and give me bad reviews like you told my husband you would.

I don't know how you think you can treat people this way and there will be no consequences.

I stayed at Abbey’s Lantern Hill this past Saturday. I have never written a negative review about anything or anyone in my life; one’s job and source of income is a part of their livelihood and everyone is entitled to a bad day. That being said, I had to share my experience staying here. My husband and I booked the hotel through expedia, which directly states on the website that it is pet friendly. When we arrived, the owner said that there were only certain rooms that were dog friendly and the one we booked was not one of them. I was very apologetic as this was not clear on the website. We even showed her the booking where it said “this hotel is a pet friendly hotel; pets are $25.00 per night.” She agreed that this was a mistake on the booking website and that “they needed to have this fixed.” I said I was sorry again for the mix up, but given that this was not really our fault, she continued to have an unpleasant demeanor towards us. My husband and I went to a 2 hour concert that evening between 8-10:30pm. By the end of the concert, I looked to see that she had called me multiple times, left me a message saying, “your dog is barking incessantly, you need to come back now, how could you leave your dog here alone!” We immediately rushed back to the hotel. We went there around 11pm, it was quiet when we got there. I was feeling bad because our dog usually does well when left alone. The next morning, we got a knock on our door to pick up the breakfast that we had ordered the day before. The breakfast given to us was not even close to what we ordered. It looked like what I can only describe as breakfast kibble, scraping off whatever was left over very poorly put together. Certainly not the 4 star, fine dining breakfast they claim to provide. My husband went to the kitchen where the owner was and said that there must have been some mistake because this was not our order. She then replied to him in a very nasty tone, “Sorry you get what you get, you left your dog alone barking for hours!!” In disbelief, he replied, I don’t think we will be giving you any good reviews after this; you can’t treat someone this way.”

In response to our dissatisfaction, she searched my name on the internet and threatened to write negative reviews about my professional life, which is both inappropriate and defamatory. Her behavior throughout our stay was shocking and unacceptable. I mean what were you going to say? “She stayed at my bed and breakfast, brought her dog due to an error on the booking website, was kind and apologetic about the situation, then the dog barked for 2 long hours.”

At the beginning of the week, I saw that she charged us an extra $350.00 for our stay. So basically, this woman is just charging my credit card for whatever she deems fit and not even saying anything to us. Sot if you want to be belittled, threatened, and defrauded, by all means, please book a room at the “lovely Abbey’s...

My wife and I decided to give this a 2.5 star rating for several reasons. We stayed from Sunday night to Friday morning in the Cadillac room.

Throughout the entire duration of our stay, we probably saw the owners maybe once or twice. Everything was contactless, which for us, was not the most welcoming experience for a "Bed and Breakfast".

The room accomodations were fantastic, the room and bathroom felt very clean and cozy. We enjoyed our jetted tub which comfortably fits two people, however the shower is extremely small and the two massive fake plants kept getting in the way. The overall atmosphere and "vibe" of the place was very quiet and relaxing, this is definitely geared towards couples or individuals trying to get away to some place quiet. I wouldn't bring children to stay here as a family (I'm not sure the rooms could even fit them).

Where this Bed and Breakfast severely lacks, and the reason for the 2.5 star rating, is the breakfast. To be truthful, it's a plated contentinal breakfast at best. The portions were stingy, there was not a large variety of options, and the coffee tasted like it had been sitting in the pot for hours. We had food delivered to our bedroom and it was served on paper plates with paper forks (you needed to hope you didn't want or need a knife). Everyday we had breakfast, we usually had to supplement with the Dunkin donuts down the road. If you're going to call yourself a "Bed and BREAKFAST" then we expect the quality and quantity of the breakfast to be at least on par with a restaurant, if not better. To not even be able to be served with a full set of real metalic utensils and real plates was extremely disappointing. It felt like the breakfast you would have received on an airplane after an overnight flight.

We won't deduct points for this, but we did see a cat wandering inside a few times. It was very friendly and it didn't bother us since we both love animals, but I could see some people being very bothered by that, especially if they were allergic. We also had to request housekeeping rather than it being automatically provided.

One thing that also threw me off was reading through the negative reviews of this place. For each review, the owners attacked the writer personally, even using someone's ethnicity as an excuse for them not understanding the "American Market". I can understand defending a business's reputation, but to attack the person making the comment rather than accepting criticism and refuse to accept any wrongdoing without letting personal bias get in the way demonstrates professional immaturity.

All in all, this is a great place to stay if you're looking for a quiet retreat with comfortable and clean rooms, little to no contact with other people (if you just want to be able to come and go unbothered), and don't care for a large breakfast and are content with eggs and bacon everyday.

If you're looking for a place where you'll be greeted by the owner each day and have an phenomenal breakfast served on real plates, you would be better off finding somewhere else. This place felt more like an upgraded "air b&b" that happened to serve small breakfast snacks in the morning. For the price we paid, we were definitely disappointed to have to spend additional money on breakfast each morning for a place that calls itself a "bed...

" Serenity, Relaxation, and Quiet, surrounded by woodlands - prefect vacation getaway!!"

Second Stay and will be back again very soon!! Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast, located in Ledyard, CT. The Inn is surrounded by woodlands. There is a wonderful outside area where you can use to grill, relax in a hammock and in the evening you can even light a fire in the outside fire pit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

There are 6 rooms at Abbey’s some with wood burning fireplace and Jacuzzi tubs. There is even a Cottage that is pet friendly for those that may be traveling with a pet.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn and this truly is a wonderful B&B. However, no trip is truly long enough as the days just flew by. The innkeeper Erika at Abbey’s Lantern Hill Inn boasts genuine hospitality, along with superior service and comfort, all in a beautiful setting ~ The Inn is very quiet and serene, with most rooms having a private porch with table, chairs and an umbrella to sit outside and enjoy the quiet. This charming romantic Bed and Breakfast is the perfect choice for getaways and vacations in Ledyard CT. Erika, will provided you with information on local activities and guide you on things to see and do around the area. From the time you walk through the door and are greeted by the wonderful friendly & caring innkeeper Erika, you will feel at home.

This visit we stayed in the Southwest Room which was immaculately clean, as was the entire Inn. On the weekend you are provided with a home-cooked breakfast and during the week you are provided with a continental breakfast. I highly recommend the French toast. There is also fruit, a selection of hot and cold cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee and tea. You will have that nice relaxing feeling, either sitting at the table in the breakfast area or during the nice weather taking it out on the porch.

The amenities offered during your stay are great and truly add to making you feel at home. Knowing you can just get a hot beverage coffee or tea (Erika has nice selection of assorted teas), soda or a light snack at any time during the day is nice.

While staying you’re a short drive to Mystic, CT. You can visit the Mystic Seaport or Aquarium and then shop in the Mystic Village. Abbey’s is also a short drive to Mohegan Sun. It is also in walking distance of Foxwoods Indian Museum and the Casino. If you stay in the Fall a MUST visit is the BF Clyde’s Cider Mill .

So if you’re looking for total peace & relaxation, you’ve found it here!! Erika is wonderful; I know you'll enjoy meeting her and staying at this wonderful Inn.

We highly recommend this Inn. Enjoy!!...
