My Honest Review of My Stay at Quality Inn I’m writing this review to give an honest and fair account of my experience, not to bash the hotel or its staff. I believe in giving credit where it’s due, but also sharing when things fall short. When I arrived, the front desk staff was professional and polite. Check-in was quick and smooth, and I appreciated the service. The room itself looked nice, clean and comfortable. The beds were decent, and overall, it wasn’t a bad setup. Like any hotel, it could use a few updates, but it was far from terrible. However, the stay took a turn for the worse. Around 5:00 PM, I discovered the toilet was clogged. I attempted to fix it myself using the plunger, assuming it was a minor issue. Unfortunately, when I woke up around 2:30 AM, I found the toilet had overflowed with waste and water all over the floor. It was a disgusting situation. I had to use the trash can and plunger to manually remove the water and dump it elsewhere just to get through the night. This process went on until about 4:00 AM. The real frustration began with how management handled the situation. I explained everything to the front desk, who contacted the manager. For a family of six unable to use the only toilet in our suite, I felt it was reasonable to ask for a full refund for that night. At first, I was only offered a 25% discount. After pushing further and explaining the inconvenience, the manager raised it to 50%, but it still didn’t feel like a fair resolution. I also asked to be moved to a different room and was told there were no available suites. But later, another suite suddenly became available, which made me question the honesty of the earlier response. We were eventually moved, but the entire situation left a bad impression. While I paid for both nights, I strongly believe the first should have been fully refunded due to the extreme inconvenience and unsanitary conditions. It’s not just about the issue itself, it’s about how it was handled. Poor management reflects poorly on the whole experience. For that reason, I will not be returning to this location. I hope they take feedback like this seriously and make improvements moving forward. This could be a better place if it was under a better management! P.S. We find a dead baby roach by the Laundry door in the hallway. While doing laundry.

The room (114) was so humid the sheets felt damp. The lights at the front of the room didn't work and they knew it (there was a note on the front desk about my room and two others when I went to tell them this). I could see water damage around the lights - which I guess may have been part of both the light issue and the humidity in the room. I was told (by the manager) that there were no other rooms available and that while he would normally discount our room with a partial refund - he couldn't because we booked online. About 20-30 minutes later, after the police apparently came and kicked someone out, the manager offered to move us to that room. I was not interested in moving my now sleeping children to a room that was just occupied by others who had to be forcefully removed by police at 1:30 AM - especially when I know house-keeping does not work overnight hours. I was just hoping for a few hours of sleep before continuing a multi-day trip at that point. Unfortunately, that would not occur, it turns out sleeping on damp sheets (unlike pulling a dame t-shirt from the dryer) keeps them damp and is quite uncomfortable. When I filed a complaint with Choice Hotels - they said the hotel averages less than 1 complaint per year (I highly doubt that given the reviews- both on their own site and some others) it was closed by them after the manager from the hotel called and offered me half off my next one night stay. I have zero intention of staying there ever again I would rather sleep in the car at a rest stop (it's cheaper and I'd probably get close to the same amount and quality of sleep). I'll give them this - their breakfast was pretty good as far as hotel breakfasts go. They did have a fair selection of both hot and cold breakfast items and it's the only reason I will give them 1 star. Overall - I'm quite disappointed in this particular experience with a "Choice Hotel Brand" - it was a much lower quality than I'm used to with them.

First of all this place is in the middle of nowhere. Carpet in hallways and stairs looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in 6 months. It's 2 stories and there is no elevator. All entrances were open so anyone could walk in at anytime so that's unsafe. There were people partying with loud music at the end of our hallway upstairs. Halls smelled of cigarette smoke and pot. Hot water was a hit or miss. We always stay with Choice Hotels but this is the worst one that we've ever stayed in. Really surprised they have this status. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was okay. That's about the only good thing I can say.

This is definitely not the worst place we've ever stayed, but I wouldn't stay here again. My husband is a contractor that travels often. This Quality Inn was close to Domtar Paper where he had to work for the week. My husband reserved the room on the app with no issues. He said he could have sworn it said two queen beds, but turns out they were full (double) beds. His mistake on that one but be aware that the beds are full instead of queen. Despite the tiny size of the bed, it slept quite comfortably, however our kids said theirs was hard and uncomfortable compared to ours. The main problem with our room was the awful chemical smell. Apparently they have an issue with bugs as there were sticky traps on either side of most doors leading to the exterior of the building with plenty of bugs stuck on them. I have to assume they sprayed the room with an insecticide and it was so strong it made us feel like we were suffocating. We were only able to stand it for one night (even after leaving the window open) so we cancelled our reservations for the following nights and found a place in Owensboro. It was further for my husband to drive each day to work, but it was worth the drive in our opinion. We had restaurants and things to do with the kids. (Fabulous playground in Owensboro by the way.) The lady at the front desk was very helpful with our check in and early check out at the Quality Inn and promptly refunded our credit card for the nights we had reserved. The breakfast was decent and was kept refilled. We have dietary restrictions so we only ate the sausage and scrambled eggs. The sausage was good and the eggs were okay for what I'm sure were powdered. The coffee was excellent. There's no waffle maker, but they have a pancake machine. The lady that tended to breakfast was pleasant and stayed busy throughout the rest of the day with other jobs. While we were in the room with the window open, we kept smelling cigarette smoke. Turns out it was this lady walking back and forth to the trash dump. The smoke and chemical smells didn't pair well. Anyway, the t.v. worked well and had lots of channels to choose from. I also liked that the sink was located outside of the bathroom. The water was nice and hot in the shower and we had plenty of it. Unfortunately, the drain in the shower was broken and the shower looked kind of grimy. The toilet had urine on it from previous guests. Eww. There were also dead bugs around the edges of the room and bathroom. The door to the exterior near our room was supposed to require a key card to open, but it stayed unlocked the entire time. Not very safe. If it hadn't been for the chemical smell in the room and the full sized beds (no I didn't deduct a star for that as that was our mistake) we would have probably stayed. The location was convenient for my husband and I actually like that it was located out in the middle of nowhere. (Apparently they stay booked most of the time due to location.) The view of the cornfield out back and the wind rustling through the stalks was soothing to this country girl's soul.|| Too long didn't read:||+ Positives: decent breakfast that stayed refilled, pancake machine, one comfortable bed, plenty of hot water in shower, sink located outside of the bathroom, t.v. worked great and had ample channels to choose from, nice about issuing refund for reserved nights, promptly refunded, location.|| - Negatives: Horrible chemical smell, bug issue, grimy bathroom, exterior doors not securely locked, one uncomfortable bed, bed size is full (double) instead of queen, no waffle maker.|| Summary: I'd pass on this one next time and stay...

My Honest Review of My Stay at Quality Inn

I’m writing this review to give an honest and fair account of my experience, not to bash the hotel or its staff.

The real frustration began with how management handled the situation. I explained everything to the front desk, who contacted the manager. For a family of six unable to use the only toilet in our suite, I felt it was reasonable to ask for a full refund for that night. At first, I was only offered a 25% discount.
