I had read many mixed reviews of this hotel, but in my humble opinion- it’s the person & not exactly the place. I’m a very simple person, very easy to please, and it takes a lot for me to give a bad review of anything. I have, and I will continue to do so if need be- but this place was great. Honestly. Sure, it’s obviously been remodeled but I actually like their upgrades. It’s not the Taj Mahal or anything, but for the price point- I think it exceeded my expectations. Very spacious rooms, open concept bathroom (which was fine for our purposes) and a very good & optional breakfast provided. Coffee was decent, and hot. Beds comfortable, sheets clean, and towels actually absorbent. I’m a tall person, so I never expect a hotel towel to actually cover me like they do at home-however … great water pressure in the shower with consistent water temp. I’ve been to much worse, since we travel a lot with our motorcycle all over the southeast. The room has a spacious refrigerator/freezer combo, and I always bring my outlet extender anyway- but they did have limited outlets in case you need to buy you an extender for your luggage 😉 great staff, so far- very sweet demeanors with down to earth personalities. As for the entrance into the room, yea sure it’s a little “narrow” (as other reviews mentioned) however none of those reviews mentioned WHY its narrow. The beautifully hung barn door that closes the bathroom off from the room is why. It’s not the end of the world. Get in, get over it. Some people are just so miserable with their lives, they knit pick every little aspect and for what reason other than to make another person feel bad? I ain’t about that life. “Do unto others” is my mantra. I think the owners have taken a lot of time and effort to make this place special— and it’s certainly unique. The on-site restaurant “Barrel 53” was exceptional and I will be leaving a review of restaurant separately— but all I can say is try the Salmon! The pool and arcade area are exceptional. If my children were here with us- they would be down there nonstop. It’s a very chill place in the middle courtyard too with gas fire places and plenty of seating. Overall- I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. So far we have enjoyed...
Read moreI stayed here on a girls trip. I am an independent reviewer and received nothing for reviewing. Indeed, I have never taken time to review a hotel before. The place and people are so nice, I just wanted to do som
This independently owned Hotel is really, really lovely. The beds are very comfortable. Nice TV. Plenty of places to put bags. The rooms are a bit small but restful and certainly sufficient. White blankets (a must for me), nice black out curtains, and the bathrooms are gorgeous. Everything is new. Lots of plugs but make sure you bring your brick.
The hotel is decorated with black, gray and wood tones which gave it a sveldt feel. They did have black ceilings. This did not bother me but it did dampen the light in the room. Mirrors had lights in them. :) It had big windows which you could open the curtain if you wanted more light. There is a court yard with benches and lounges and cornhole. The pool is absolutly lovely. Big, clean and you can play splashketball. There are also arcade games and corn hole in the pool area. There is a handicapped lif in the pool area as well. There are several ways to enter with handicapped curb cuts but the front is the only automatic door that I saw.
Management and employees are very caring. JT opened a door for me when I was carrying in stuff. Also, when I called down to ask for an air cleaner due to the paint smell (it is newly renovated), the manager showed up at my door immediately and took me around letting me smell different rooms until I found one where there was no smell (Room 171 was great). It also has a restaurant and free, good breakfast. Near enough to Keenland and horse farms.
Driving there is pleasant becaus it is on the outskirts of town and there is not heavy traffic. Just off of I-75.
Prices are reasonable and the place is so nice I expect prices to increase as it is discovered. Try it now! I hope to do a mini family vacation...
Read moreThe hotel looks like it is a more upscale one from the photos, but once you see it in person it's clear that it is cheaply maintained with dim lighting, terrible looking paint on the wall, and decor that looks very out of place.
Checked in 45 minutes after the check-in time and was brought back to my room by the front desk person, but it still was not cleaned. I also had to ask for a 2nd keycard, even though it was booked for 2 people. Once I entered my room it had narrow entrance causing a bit of inconvenience with the luggage and I could very obviously hear people in the room next to me, but they weren't talking louder than ordinary.
The sound of the TV was distorted leading me to turn the volume up to a higher level that I wanted to just to understand what I was watching. The wifi password was not given to me in writing, so I went to the front desk and they wrote the password down, but it was wrong - even after trying several variations. So I just used my wifi hotspot for my Firestick.
Breakfast was late by 45 minutes and the only available food options were biscuits, gravy, sausage, and eggs. I wanted to swim the morning of checkout since it was full of teenage boys the night before, but the door was still locked an hour after it was supposed to be open and a staff member saw me trying to get in twice. The shower head was very dirty on top and the temperature fluctuated to very hot temps a few times while showering. There were no wash cloths so I had to use a hand towel to shower, which didn't even work. When packing up to checkout the keycards quit working at 10:00 even though checkout was 11:00, but at least the checkout lady seemed concerned that this happened.
Individually these are small inconveniences, but all these problems happening in one night is inexcusable for over 200 dollars in total booked a week in advance. I've never had a hotel or even motel...
