Brierley b&b..an impromptu tour which not only met but exceeded our expectations in many ways. The handsome golden pup greeted us at the outset, and he set the tone right there for the rest of the stay. Barbara's place was a perfect example of quaint and eclectic. The interior was tasteful yet personal, nestled in lush green mountains. I couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting for our weekend getaway. In the evening, we decided to take a stroll and dine in Lexington downtown. It was charming with small cafes, artist studios, gift stores, private boutiques, pottery stores, and lots of personnel in uniform! I loved strolling hand in hand aimlessly with my husband, pointing to little cute shops and artifacts they had. It is a university town with a military academy and several retirement communities, so the overall vibe is eclectic. People were chatty; I would say, a usual affair in a small town, from our waiter where we had dinner or the lady at the gift shop or our host at the inn, they made this little gateway more special. So..after dinner, we were back to the inn, and things got personal. Suffice to say, the jacuzzi set the mood. And the sophisticated bathrobes made us feel we were in a movie from the 1980s. Moon and stars were in a good mood too, and we had them for the lovely company while with some music, few soulful and mostly meaningless chatter, we sat on the swing and stared the midnight away. I woke up early; it was a foggy morning. I had an early shower and was ready as I was excited about the three-course gourmet breakfast. We went upstairs, where breakfast is served, a little early, had hot cocoa in the patio beset mist and fog. It was a little chilly, but who cares when you have a view of the mountains and hot cocoa in hand. Then....it was 9 am.. drumroll please... it was the time for the gourmet breakfast. Boy, it didn't disappoint us. Barbara cooked in her elegant kitchen with farm-fresh ingredients. And her rested and patient soul was reflected in her cooking. We gorged like hungry teenagers. The host suggested an extra portion, and we shamelessly accepted. It took a cup of coffee and an uphill walk to settle the food we glutted. It was time to say goodbye to the lovely inn, our hosts, and Charlie. I got myself a beautiful cup with Brierley hill engraving as a souvenir for the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend at the Brierley Hill Bed and Breakfast, and I am more than happy to share my experiences. This charming establishment offers a quaint escape from the bustling city life, nestled in the picturesque heart of the Shenandoah Valley.
From the moment I arrived, the inn's warm and friendly staff made me feel welcome. The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free, with the staff eagerly assisting me in settling in. They remained approachable and accommodating throughout my stay, always ready to help with a smile.
The room I stayed in was well-kept and tastefully furnished, exuding a classic charm that fits perfectly with the overall atmosphere of the bed and breakfast. The bed was comfortable, the linens were crisp and clean, and the in-room amenities were adequate. I particularly enjoyed the room's stunning view, overlooking the beautiful landscapes of the valley.
Breakfast was a highlight of my stay at Brierley Hill. Each morning, I was treated to a delightful variety of homemade dishes, all prepared with fresh, local ingredients. The presentation was impeccable, and the taste was even better.
The only area where I felt there could be slight improvements was the Wi-Fi connection. There were times when the internet was a bit patchy, causing minor inconvenience. However, this did not significantly affect the overall quality of my stay.
The location of Brierley Hill Bed and Breakfast is another selling point. It's in close proximity to a number of interesting attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
In conclusion, my weekend at Brierley Hill Bed and Breakfast was an enjoyable and memorable one. Despite a minor issue with the Wi-Fi, I was thoroughly impressed by the high level of service, the comfortable accommodations, and the outstanding breakfasts. I would gladly recommend this bed and breakfast to those seeking a tranquil retreat with a touch of luxury in the heart of Virginia's scenic...
Read moreWe were able to enjoy "The Blue Ridge Cottage", during our most recent stay at Brierley Hill Bed & Breakfast. This is a newer area, and the décor reflects that. The cottage is well away from other guests, on the second floor, private stairs and deck area, overlooking a beautifully maintained garden space. Well appointed, with a very comfortable bed, plenty of space to store your personal belongings, seating area and gas fireplace. Huge bathroom with a modern shower, again plenty of space to store your personal items. I can not forget to mention the fluffy robes! Plenty of windows to allow sunlight, with ample window coverings, to close fully, if you desire to do so. The kitchenette is lovey as well, although we were not there long enough to use it. You will find a well stocked beverage fridge and some snacks on the counter. Fresh cookies, are usually in the reception area, of the inn. Breakfasts are wonderfully prepared, ample portions, and always delicious! We also indulged in their special fall special, an "Apple Cider Mimosa" - YUM! Minutes out of Lexington! Its a very easy trip in and out of Lexington. There is always something happening, plenty to see and do! Please try to enjoy dining in one of the many restaurants the town has to offer. Dave and Karen (owners) are well versed in what the area has to offer, from a simple stroll in the park, to hiking a trail, and anything in between. They always have time to chat, treating everyone like an old friend. We have now stayed there, on several occasions, in various rooms, within the inn. and now in the newer cottage space. Everything is pristine clean and well maintained. If you are thinking about Lexington VA, please consider this bed and breakfast. I am almost certain, as you leave, and are heading down the winding drive, someone will be saying "we need to...
