When I called, I asked if they had vacancies, which they did. I got a room. It was nice to be talked to with my first name during the dialogue. I got into the room and it was nice. I usually stay at budget hotels/motels while trucking. This hotel was on route and a noted fuel stop when I come thru Napoleon.
There was no mould in the tub. Everything was to my expectations in a Holiday Inn Express which they are transitioning to. I don't nit pick over peeling paint or strings in the room carpet; or a crack in the ceiling in older establishments like so many do. Everything was clean n in good working order.
If you want to nit pick, go to a 5 star Hotel and nit pick at their room n standards, your nit picking ruins it for others who may want to stay the night there. Give positive feedback than all the negative.
I enjoyed the back lighting which gave the room ambiance. I don't use the TV in many hotels n motels, I don't use TV at home either much. I'm glued to my android anyways. I enjoyed the third setting in the shower 🚿 the fine mist setting. Ahh! Good pressure and hot water 💧👌. Everything worked well. I loved all the light in the mirror, that's a nice feature. Tho the large round ceiling light didn't light up, which is ok. The one in the shower was on brightly. 👍There was plenty of light.
The pool was closed n drained, I don't use the pool so it's no concern. It's still covid season and pandemic people, pools won't be opening for a long time as will continental breakfasts in many hotels till its all over and done, which covid will be here for a long time to come. I didn't use the weight room either, same reasons as the pool. Use your heads general public 🤯! Covid-19 is still here and all the variants, pools and weight rooms in hotels will be closed. Go to your local training centre chain to use the gym and pool.
I don't use ice from the machines, so that's not a concern for me. As long as the bed is comfy, toilet, tub, lighting and sink works, that's all you need. The microwave and Fridge is always good. There was nobody next to me, so it was a quiet and uneventful day n night.
The restaurant is good too, chicken n noodles, bread n dessert meal was delicious as always. 👍
The only thing I was annoyed was the exit at first floor by 101 I couldn't get out, the west end of the building. I could get in from there using the key outside with the slider. Even pressing the exit bar the door would not open from the inside.
All in all enjoyed my...
Read moreThe only good thing I can say about this place and our room is that it was at the very end of the hall next to the side exit door, had there been an emergency, we would have been able to escape.
The room was dank and the smell of moisture was everywhere, The humidity level in that room had to have been pretty high. We arrived very late, past 10 and just wanted to get the kids to bed, and we knew we'd be out and up early, so we didn't press the issue of changing rooms. Also that evening when we pulled up we noticed a large group of all female bikers, my husband asked if I was concerned and I said no, they're not threatening to me and we'll be fine. So with that we checked in and got the kids to bed. The next evening we came back to the hotel (again we were only there to sleep and that's it, the amenities were not on our list of things to partake in) I did have time to notice more of the room and what I noticed was just disgusting. There was urine puddled under and around the toilet and dead bugs on the floor of the bathroom, at least 10-12 of them. Their was mold surrounding the seal of the window in the room as well as dead bugs. After taking pictures, we resigned ourselves to just sleeping there and leaving in the morning. My 11yr old son and I went to get some ice for our drinks and we had to walk clear to the other side of the hotel, past the lobby to get it, that was not the problem....the problem...passing the party, and I do mean party, disco ball and all, of the all female biker club that was there and then explaining to my son what a body shot was and why they were dancing like that...and why this woman had this man's face buried in between her very ample bosoms.
After that was all over and we got back to our room and I told my husband...again, we needed a place to stay for the night and it was late, so we stayed. We didn't have a choice.
I emailed the hotel mgr shorty after we returned home and of course he apologized and graciously (here comes the sarcasm) offered us a 50% off stay in the next year. One, we wouldn't be going back to such a place again....and probably wouldn't make it back in the next year anyway. His apology fell on deaf ears, as he had already gotten our money for our less than...
Read moreThe male in charge on 06/30 Sunday, claims he was management, and was the one that checked us out from our stay. We had been told breakfast was till 10, then it was 930 and then 9. The communication between management and staff was lacking, signs might help. The same towel used to clean the floor was used to clean the tables. When a guest addressed it, it was fine... here... see... I'm cleaning, oh new towel, is that better? There were no napkins out for guests. When staff was asked about coffee, the guests aka not just me... were all given rude no's... nothing was left out. At first it seemed like staff was just rude, giving rude answers and glares at guests, but we realized it was a management issue.
The "manager" was yelling and screaming at staff. We could hear and see him in the laundry area while we were in the breakfast area.
After we checked out and everyone else was outside I tried to talk to him, he blew up. He claimed it was just stressful as the hotel had been full and now they have to turn over the entire place. He was unwilling to give his name, there were no name tags, and no name cards. I did quietly record part of the conversation. It was a shocking conversation. He said he did not care if we ever stayed there again because it's not about the money, we have no say in how he treats his staff. He said people get yelled at, that's life, and that is how he gets things done around there. He said go ahead and call corporate, they aren't going to do anything but give your money back that's what most people want anyways. He did not ask what issue we had with staff was, he only talked about issues he had with me. Claiming he knew I was going to be a problem. He thought I just wanted a free stay and that's why I was complaining because that's how he handles these types of situations, just refund the stay so you can go away.
I was born and raised in Napoleon and visit family there. This was my first stay at this specific location. We normally stay at another hotel down the road and it is ok. The night before we stayed at IHG in Bowling Green, it went great, staff was awesome. We had more rooms, a few things like not enough towels, but quick kind assistance. There is a stark difference to the...
