This location is a chalet rental on Lake Michigan. The chalets are A frame buildings and each chalet is split in half for rentals. There are 2 rooms located on a steep staircase on the second floor. Each room has a bunk bed (pretty comfortable) and a double bed (the 2 at the locations I rented were outdated). The rooms have sheets, blankets, pillows). There is A/C in both rooms and no A/C on first floor (if warm bring fans to try and push the A/C). Each chalet has a kitchen and different furnishings with a screen patio or deck off back. 1 bathroom per with a standup shower (you need your own towels, soap, etc). There is a kitchen with kitchen utensils (some have grills). The grounds are maintained ok. The 2 pools are very small and deepest is 4ft. There is a outdated basketball net, sandlot volleyball and spot for horseshoes. Recommend to stay close to lake for view of sunsets and access to beach. One main thing is this place is losing more and more beach every year (water temp of Lake Mich sometimes warms a bit by Aug, but can be very chilly). Not much space on a busy weekend. You must bring everything and anything to keep you busy at the beach. This place has cute concept but overpriced for what you get and what it offers only value on location and if a warm summer. Warning, check how much...
Read moreBecause of Lake Michigan the location was beautiful. The property itself was cute, with lots of nice family stuff (beach, pools, playground, volleyball). But that's the end of whats good about this place. We booked through Vrbo (big mistake!) Our Chalet was overpriced, and outdated. We were charged a ridiculous cleaning fee, yet the kitchen was dirty when we arrived. Everything needs updating! On our last day we were locked out of our Chalet for over 4 hours, due to a faulty sliding door lock, and were offered almost no assistance. They called a locksmith, which never arrived, and eventually broke a window. Meanwhile my children were wet, cold, hungry, thirsty, and needed to use the restroom. We asked for a refund for that night and were denied. Asked Vrbo to help us and were denied. So our one vacation we get to take a year was not great! Please look elsewhere, there are plenty of beautiful places around...
Read moreHave had family reunions here for over a decade renting up to six chalets over a four-day weekend. We were "very disappointed" this year (8/2017) upon arrival to find the lake's water level had consumed the beach, yet we were never informed by the office. One of the main reasons we travel here (from IL & central MI) is to be able to walk to the beach. Also "very disappointed" when one of our family members was charged $100 for checking out 30 minutes late ($50 for every 15 min passed check out time of 10am). Every Hilton and Marriott will extend check out time for an hour ... why so unreasonable at Chalet on the Lake! I should have asked for a three-hour credit since the renters (or maybe owners) kept us awake with loud talking and music until 2AM. Time to find another location for next year's family reunion!
I must say that the ladies in the office have always been very nice over the phone...
