If you are coming here to fish or kayak, or to watch your dog romp in the water, that is NOT happening at this campground. There are some positives… the campground is super clean and the staff is extremely friendly and nice. The golf carts are so much fun - must pay extra for, but fun. Chris, who took us to our site, was wonderful and Rick, the archery gentlemen, is awesome. ||The campground sells itself as a family friendly campground with fishing, kayaking/canoeing, arcade, pool, crafts, rock wall, laser tag and archery. ||Our Complaints:|Family friendly- this is a private “family friendly” campground. I was very surprised to see that people were able to hang confederate flags, Let’s Go Brandon flags, and Trump flags and banners. Whatever your political affiliation, a “family friendly” campground isn’t the place for it. We did love all the American flags throughout. ||Fishing? Kayaking? Canoeing? NOPE, not happening here. The pond is gross. I mean… really gross. The amount of “duck grass” was crazy. We were told they “treated the pond” and just needed a good rain to wash it all out. The muck was layers and layers thick. We tried to give the park the benefit of the doubt, but when I read reviews on here from FIVE YEARS ago with the same issue, the benefit is gone. You are clearly not taking care of this pond correctly. I also found a photo on a fishing app of some guy complaining about pulling through layers of duck grass and slime from 2017. Terrible! If you want to advertise it as a fishing, kayaking, canoeing campground, then clean it! No one can fish in there. Many people tried. We saw them. You can’t canoe or kayak in the pond, either. We tried to take a canoe out and constantly got stuck from the muck on top of the pond. We could barely get the end of the paddle through the muck. We banked in multiple spots from years worth of “duck grass” eventually sinking to the bottom of the pond to create muck. The pond is man-made, 1-3 ft deep, and the water does not move. It is more of a breading ground for mosquitoes and bullfrogs. We brought our own kayak, but didn’t want to put it in that stuff. ||The park map is misleading. It shows 2 additional fishing spots by the bridge. You aren’t fishing there to fish. These are VERY small areas. This is more for scooping tad poles and crayfish. See pics.||The arcade… WHAT arcade? All the games were out of order, except 1 game. The signs had clearly been up for a long time. Even the 1970’s air hockey table didn’t work. How are you going to advertise having an arcade if most of it doesn’t work? ||The Pool was clean. Only 3.5 feet deep, so it was more for younger kids. ||The crafts—fun to do, however you have to pay for the craft at the time. It’s not that much $, however you get the impression from the way it’s advertised that it’s included. It’s not free, so bring cash with your kid to the craft stand. |The former Kindergarten teacher that runs the crafts, table activities, and BINGO was awesome. I can see why the kids all love her. ||The rock wall was non-existent. They do not keep the rock wall up all the time for safety reasons, understandably, however it was not in our Mon-Sat calendar schedule. We arrived a few hours too late and missed the only one they had (earlier Monday).||Laser Tag. - you get the impression that it is included as well, however it isn’t. It is not expensive, but again you think it’s included the way it is advertised. Also, it’s only 1 time in the week. It’s not whenever you want to go. ||Archery—Do the family archery with Rick. Again you have to pay for this. It’s only $10, which isn’t much when you have Rick as your instructor. This man is amazing with adults and kids. This is another one of those things where you get the impression that it’s all included when it’s not.||For what you pay $$$ to stay here, these smaller things should all be included. This park is definitely for kids 10 and under. My kids are 14 and 16, and things for them to do were limited. ||I have been to parks both private and state all over the country. I always walk my dogs extensively. The roads are not paved. The roads are big rocks, not crush-and-run, not gravel, not natural forest door. I had crocs on and got a hole in my shoe from the little walking I did. I wasn’t able to walk my dogs like I normally would. We have 2 big dogs and 1 little dog. They were all walking around like it hurt their paws to walk, so we limited their walks. The little one, forget it, he would just wait for us to pick him up. ||It’s misleading regarding the pond, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, arcade, crafts, and activities. We thought the staff and cleanliness was your saving grace. Please fix the other things or be honest in your...
Read moreWe stayed there June 18-24, Sunday to Saturday. There were 4 adults and 5 kids on two sites. We are not a noisy crowd and abide by quite hrs. and rules. During the week it is dead, everything is locked up unless you burden the staff to unlock the pool, unlock the arcade and make coffee in the shop or replace paper towels. The owners are just downright rude and snubbed us multiple times and even our small kids. A friendly wave or a hey how ya doing as they zipped around on their golf carts would have been nice. You would expect rude behavior in the NY/CT area on the road or passing strangers, but not from small business owners. After all they made over $400 on us with the potential for repeat business!
Most sites are small and on top of each other. We had site 65k which is pretty good size though can't complain about that. It is on a hill. The pool area is nice and the highlight of the place.
The big disappointment was the pond. The dock is rotting and the pond is a cesspool. There is no way anyone would rent anything there. The dock is not safe. The mosquitoes at this place we're awful and we had to really load up and reload on bug spray. We suspect it was due to the nasty pond.
The main mens bathroom with showers was never cleaned in the week we were there same crud stuck in the same places. The women's was once.
Lastly the golf cart rental fee is $450 a week. Are you kidding?
Pros: Decent sites, some with good size Pool Landscaping Cheaper than most area motels Friendly staff except the 2 owners, go figure
Cons: Very rude owners, maybe they hate little girls? Cesspool pond Dangerous dock Tons of mosquitos, stay by the pool if you can Not real clean, main bathroom so so, remote bathroom was backed up for two days Air hockey table broken Expensive golf cart rentals, could rent a full size SUV cheaper!
Update March 2018.....Just now reading the owners response. The quite hrs violation not true at all, we have 3 small children who sleep early. There are a ton of good reviews, but a few that hit the nail on the head with poor service from the owner. Ignore the owner and you'll be fine except for the mosquitoes from the...
Read moreWe made our first trip to Cozy Hills back in October of 2020 for a Halloween Weekend and we have now found our new go-to local campground! The owner Lelah has done a tremendous job with upgrades and maximizing the potential of this great campground. This sites are spacious and there is a variety of water/electric/gray water or full-hook up sites. Lots of activities including an on-site restaurant, pool, Gaga ball, canoeing, craft house, archery, laser tag, bingo, hayrides, camp store, drive-in movie screen, water slide - they have it all! Wanna rent a go-cart? They have those too. The seasonal campers take great pride in their sites and do a great job with landscaping and decorating!|We especially like there long term options that they have to offer like the Spring Fling, which we are currently taking advantage of, or 3, 6, 12-week stints of time in the summer! This is a great opportunity to park your RV on your site and go back and forth at your convenience. The staff here are just super nice and they genuinely care about their customers and the land that they are preserving. One of the things we love about this place is the expectation of respect to your fellow campers. Lelah ensures that the rules are upheld and her staff are always available when you need something. Campers really do love coming back to Cozy Hills time and time again because of this! If you are looking for a fun family weekend with lots of activities, or you just want to sit by your campfire and relax, make Cozy Hills your new home away from home and you won’t regret it. We have already booked some stays for next year! Thanks to Lelah and her whole team for making this such a great place for us to make memories...
