Gooseboro Drive-In — Restaurant in Litchfield

As I was travelling through the area and growing hangry, I was in the mood for a good Chilidog. It appears they use Hummel hotdogs. This place had delightful chilidogs, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, and lots of other great food options. Unfortunately, I dropped my dog before finishing it, but I was able to eat most of it and it was all I had hoped for. The staff here is friendly and kind. Getting in and out is fairly smooth and easy, although while I was inside, my wife happened to see some guys roll in on motorcycles and one of them dumped their bike on the gravel driveway. She did say he seemed to be o.k., although I figure he must have been embarrassed and who knows if the bike got damaged. If you're rolling in on two wheels, use caution and be safe. First, the food is great. Counterpeople are always really nice and accommodating. I havent had a wrong order as long as I've been going there. It would be nice if it was a little closer to where I live, but it's worth the trip. Hamburger stands are not uncommon in Connecticut, but this one is among the very best. I wouldn't mind the prices being a little lower but they are fairly reasonable for the quality. Everything is made fresh so you might have to wait a few minutes, especially on weekends when it's busier, but again worth the wait. Closed in winter so get it while you can. It's a hot dog/burger stand, and perfect for what it is. Milkshakes are good, and everything I've had there is perfectly what it is. I often stop here on motorcycle rides, the driveway/parking is gravel but very well packed and solid. There are a number of picnic tables available. In addition to cash, they take Venmo payments too.
