After much pressure from friends my wife and I made reservations and we went with our friends and we just returned. They arrived a day earlier and for their site, they said it flooded with the rains. We rate this visit as one of the two worst camping trips we have ever had. First, after stating what size, length and number of slides we picked a corner pull thru sites. upon arriving we positioned our travel trailer as best we could because they had a totem pole right in the way of our back door and we could not put our awning out and it was a rainy weekend. next there was fairly fresh dog feces on the site and the people next to us had 3 dogs. Next the sewer housing was broken and had an sewer line end stuck in it with the lid flipped up side down and jammed in. The electric box, cable and water was almost at the back end of the site, the electric was so worn out the plug would fall out and I had to bungee cord it to keep it in. Luckily I carry two drinking water hoses. The cable looked as if they had just replaced end but they left it hanging and it had a female end not a male end. Luckily I carry extra connections but it did no good as it didn't work. When I called the office they said "I don't think the cable works down there". The next day I went to the office to report the problems and the attendant filled out a maintenance slip and asked when I was checking out. When I said the next day she seemed to put it off until I left. I work in the Hospitality industry. Our standard is once a guest reports a maintenance issue we have 30 mins to have someone to that area assess the situation and determine if we can fix it and if it is a easy fix have it done that day. If it cannot be fixed the guest will be told why and if needed an option to change sites. Non of this. Next there was a wedding party booked 5 or 6 sites (maybe more) beside us and they parted Friday night until 3 am Saturday Morning, then they continued into late Saturday night. I promise that there was more than 6 per site. They had Kids (Under 16) flying around in Golf Carts and some of them had loud stereo's blasting all of the being driven by adults were drunk and was doing doughnuts around our site. One guy parked his golf cart so close to our back window he had to get out on the passenger side. When asked to move he just said ok, an he didn't move it. Could not get ahold of the front desk after hours. So The rules they say they have about the age for golf cart drivers and drinking and driving them, noise, quiet hours, cleaning up behind your animals are completely out the door and are not enforced. My disappointment was first the totem pole, their rule say you cannot put one on the site but they put one in a spot that interferes with the camper. There was numerous locations around this site they could have put this thing. Just a horrible first impression. Our friends asked us to give them a second chance, we still have not made that decision yet. Most likely not. We love camping...
Read moreI had made a reservation, arrived to a filthy bathroom with no soap. Chalked it up to it being a big campground. Second day we used the pool and there was so much bleach my hair streaked red (other ladies hair was turning green from blonde). Then I asked if I could clean the bathroom n asked them for hand soap for the bathroom.. was told I can't get the supplies to clean neither public restrooms... Couldn't find the "playground" wasn't given clear directions or help, just a map. Which didn't help much. Drove around and got lost but had a lot look at found it waaay later to see no restrooms near the playground. On third day I finally caught the maintenance guy, he was cool. He didn't like me helping him clean the bathroom but I had to get rid of the spikey spider baby nest in eye view/touch my two year old. The bathroom was so filthy I can see why. The man didn't have a proper mop bucket, no true cleaning supplies.. but I went in with a broom, a dirty mop head n a squeegee and did my best. It looked so great afterwards.. Then to no fault of theirs but we were swamped by a rain storm. Was flooded with 3inch+ rain, while in a camp. The lady at front was very very rude in her response... I came in soaked n drenched n she told me I had to drive around n look for another campsite, but was instructed it had to be a 30something hookup. I barely knew what she was talking about, mind you EVERYTHING in our tent was drenched in 3+inch rain and she didn't even offer to help me find a solution.. I had a panic attack and felt so disgusted even being there .long story short. I called the office and asked for manager after getting my bearings back . Carol was great, she came over n offered us to move 20ft away. But.. with the experience of the filthy bathrooms, over bleached pool n the rude accommodations I had to go. We weren't valued probably because we were in the tent..
Ps. Was very awkward that much nobody was driving around us before the storm, yet I swear on my breathe 30+ folks drove by on their carts less than ten min after the pour down. Kinda ironic. Not ONE person even cared enough ask us if we needed help, me n three kids. They all drove by as spectators clearly seeing us flooded.. The entire atmosphere screamed Never again.. Wish I would have taken more still photos, have a video tho.. just disappointed I wasted my time, money, energy, experience here... Best thing happened was my learning experience and they gave me some my...
Read moreEvery year we as a family meet at Suwannee to enjoy camping and concerts. This will be our last year going. The running of the park severely lacks any business sense. My husband asked the park office on Thursday if we could have people in the truck bed and he was told yes as long as they were sitting down and not acting stupid. We drove to the concert with no problem. Friday night we left from our campsite to the concert. We were pulled over by a deputy. He asked my husband if we had an air horn in the truck. We stated we did not. He asked if Sam(my husband) if he has been drinking. Sam said he had one beer earlier and proceeded to pull his ID out. The deputy said he did not need to see it. The deputy then told us to drive our truck back to the campsite, park it there, and walk to the concert. We asked the officer why and he said because they did not want a "truck this size driving down the road." Now, my husband has a large F350, but he also was not speeding, and was being very respectful to pedestrians. We told him we were just driving to park at the concert and then back to camp after it was done. The officer told us we could do it that one night and then not to drive again. We parked and my husband went to the park office to speak with them about this. They said that we would need to speak to the owner or the CEO of the park. They took our number down and said one of them would call us tomorrow. We waited and had not received a phone call by noon the next day so we drove to the park office again to see if they were available. They were not there so they called over someone who was in charge of security. The security officer told us that we were pulled over because we are not allowed to have people riding in the truck bed anymore, a rule they apparently changed on Monday. We told him that the deputy never said anything about people in the bed and only mentioned the size of his truck. He told us to talk to the deputies because they decide what to enforce. So we drove and found a deputy to speak to. The deputy said that the park tells them what rules they want enforced and they enforce it. No matter who we talked to all we got was people pointing fingers at other departments and giving us the run around. We WILL NOT be returning to a place where we pay to camp and go to concerts and then be told all these rules that were not laid out on...
