My family and I stayed in the Lake House near Thanksgiving and had the most amazing time. The property is unlike anywhere else we have ever stayed. I was a bit dumbfounded when I read a post about a group having a bad experience there and I just don't see how that would be possible. The ambiance is so warm and inviting, and you can tell it has been decorated and maintained with loving hands. We found the staff to be readily available and extremely helpful when we were inquiring about things to do in the area. The office manager even leaves her card and personal cell phone number inside the informational binder in the cabin, and was extremely pleasant when we phoned her to ask for restaurant recommendations. She also informed us of the 5 miles of maintained trails at Cherry Ridge. We didn't even have to leave the property to enjoy some fantastic hikes, which we haven't found anywhere else we've stayed. Even with the Boat House cabin being in close proximity, we had no privacy issues at all, in fact, we didn't see or hear the guests there at all during our stay. The management seems to have gone out of their way to ensure privacy between the two properties. We had no need to use the flood lights at night, for there was ample lighting on the deck area just from the glow of the interior lights. We found the inventory lists to be helpful so that we knew how to leave the cabin exactly how we found it, though we assumed the lists were for the housekeepers more than the guests. The sun room was closed for us too, but my hunch is that's due to the single-paned windows in the room. We have a seasonal room at our home too which is hard to keep warm in the winter, and since there was ample space at Lake House we had no problem not using that room. If previous guests had any problems, the staff must fix them quickly because the phones and oven were in perfect working order during our stay. I couldn't get cell reception there (T-Mobile is awful sometimes) and I really appreciated being able to keep in touch with people using the in-house phones. I suppose you can't please everyone all the time, but we we certainly grateful for the hospitality and will not only be returning, but will recommend Cherry Ridge to all of our friends who visit Hocking Hills. It's...

Cherry Ridge Retreat (Oak Ridge) is the most secluded, quiet and private location! The place was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home. It was the most peaceful weekend away. We came here to connect with one another, to not watch the time but to only enjoy our time together.
They provided us with all the information we needed. The cabin was just perfect! Kitchen is compact and contains everything one needs. There was nothing we needed to bring (except food). We made all of our meals while we are there and had all the cooking supplies we needed. Well water is the only water source available in that area however this cabin provided filtered water in a separate faucet in the sink. The cabin had working Wi-Fi, we had no issues using our cellphone once connected.
All of the little features they have done did not go unnoticed from the outdoor lights for the hot tub to the light switches being labeled it made this home so enjoyable. Both indoors and outdoors felt like a small piece of woodsy paradise! The gazebo with the hot tub was ready to go, very clean and the temperature was perfect. We spent a majority of our time in the hot tub relaxing. There is outlets in the area that we used to plug in a speaker to listen to music. The Webber stainless steel barbecue grill (propane included) was fantastic as we made steaks on the grill.
There was a little book on the coffee table of all the past guest and memories they shared. We enjoyed reading past stays and even sharing our own. The two-sided, see-through gas log fireplace made the inside of the cabin so romantic both in the living room and bedroom. The bathroom had everything we needed. We enjoyed the natural Aveda products and plush towels.
We really enjoyed the movie room with the 2 high-end massage chairs. We had a great time getting massages while watching TV on the large flat screen with the deluxe surround sound system.
They went way beyond to make our long-weekend comfortable and memorable. Thanks Cherry Ridge Retreat) for a wonderful weekend!
We will be back,...

For us, that meant losing $500 despite canceling four months ahead and receiving no services in return. Fair? You decide.||||My fiancé and I visited the property on Easter and initially thought it was a charming spot for our small elopement. We were told our parents could attend without issue. That all changed after we booked. Suddenly, there was a $50 fee per guest with a one-hour time limit—on our wedding day. Imagine being told you can only spend one hour with your closest family during one of the most important moments of your life. That’s not a celebration; it’s a countdown.||||We were told these rules were to “avoid noise complaints,” yet the same property rents out a nearby cabin for 8+ guests. If we were disrupted by noise, do you think we'd get a refund? You already know the answer.||||We later found out there are extra fees, inconsistent policies, and zero flexibility. The only way to reduce your loss is to buy their so-called "insurance" at 12%—which is just another money grab. Either way, they get paid. You get stress, lost money, and no peace of mind.||We should have read more reviews beforehand—hopefully, you're doing that now. Trust us when we say: there are much better venues nearby that won’t leave you feeling deceived.||Our advice: Avoid this place. Save your money....
