This is a difficult place to rate. We stayed here a year earlier in one of the cottages and had a terrible experience. We had a couple of major service problems, but at that time the office was unattended and management (unbelievably) provided no phone number to call anyone between 6:00 PM and 9:00 AM the next day - (this has been fixed - the office is still unattended overnight, but now one can call the owner's cell phone if a problem arises.) However, we received $100 compensation from the management, and decided not to publish what would have been a one star review. We also decided to give the place a second chance.||||As other reviewers have noted, the location is convenient to many interesting places, like Auburn. The setting is superb, with gardens to enjoy. Seclusion is somewhat questionable, as one can hear constant loud traffic on nearby Auburn-Folsom road. In addition, though the gardens are quite nice, the inn is misnamed, as there are virtually no flowers - only some arbors, vineyards and citrus trees. There are some really neat looking chickens wandering around, who will appeal especially to kids. The cafe on site is terrific (see separate review). The main house looks very nice, but we cannot rate its rooms as we stayed in one of the cottages.||||In general, the people who own and run this place must have had no experience staying in other B&B's. No one is onsite overnight, which we have never encountered in any of the other 100+ B&B's we have stayed in.There is no notebook in the room explaining the facility, operation of the room amenities, local attractions and dining, etc. ||||The Climbing Rose cottage is comfortable, spacious and attractive, but very minimalist in its amenities and furnishings. There is a coffee maker and jacuzzi, but no TV or fridge. Management made the curious decision to install a small sink in the bedroom to provide water for the coffee maker - it would have been less expensive and more sensible to omit this sink, put a small refrigerator in the sink's cabinet, and have guests walk 8 feet to the bathroom sink for water to make coffee. Even though there is ample room, there is no closet - only an armoire that is so small it will not accommodate clothes hangers, and has one narrow door for access. There is no clock radio, no writing desk. There is a love seat, but no ottoman or coffee table in front of it.||||When we left the cottage for dinner at 7:15, it was pitch dark, but none of the pathway or parking lot lights were on. They were in operation when we returned 1.5 hours later.||||The bathroom is spacious, but that's all that can be said for it. It had only one hand towel and washcloth, which is ridiculous for two people. There was no soap or shampoo in the room, so we had to call the owner about that, who gave us instructions on getting into the supply cabinet in the main house. The shelf over the sink is tiny, even though there is ample room for a larger shelf or additional ones. The bath tub is the most uncomfortable one we have ever encountered; it is round with little leg room. The shower control is impossible to figure out - even the attendant checking us in to the room could not operate it - she had to call two people to find out how it worked. This shower control was one of our bitter complaints from our previous visit; we suggested to the management at that time that they provide instructions for it somewhere in the bath, but that suggestion was ignored. There are elaborate instructions on how to work the jacuzzi, which is of no interest to us. After turning the shower off, it had a disturbing habit of spontaneously coming on and running for about 30 seconds then shutting itself off. This went on for several hours, but eventually stopped. In our opinion, management should have saved the multi-thousands of dollars they spent on the jacuzzi and provide a comfortable tub with a simple shower control, a shower that does not spontaneously come on at random, adequate shelves over the sink, and sufficient towels and washcloths for two guests.||||All of these facility and service issues would not be important of the Flower Farm Inn were inexpensive, but it is not. This is our last trip here for lodging. Next time we're in the area, we'll save a lot of money and stay at a nearby Travelodge, come to the Flower Farm Inn's great cafe for breakfast or lunch, and stroll...

Read moreMy wife and I experienced warm, relaxed, at-home hospitality from everyone at the Flower Farm Inn and were befriended by several of the staff. The Inn is quietly situated away from the hustling city but all major shopping, amenities and freeway are very close.||||We stayed in the Farmhouse 'Antique Rose' room which was roomy and comfortable and included a claw-foot tub with shower. We enjoyed the original old-world country feel of the entire house. The spacious property includes an adorable Cafe' with delicious food, an event barn and gift shop, etc... Small, tidy cottages were positioned on winding walkways near the farmhouse and, from the exterior, each appeared to be comfortable, clean and far enough apart for privacy.||||We were privileged to play host to our two children and their spouses one evening on Christmas Eve in the decorated living room at the Inn. It was the perfect gathering with little effort or inconvenience. Thank you Flower Farm Inn for allowing us to flow in and out, and to linger around as we desired during our two week stay.||||We cannot speak highly enough and would recommend the Flower Farm Inn to anyone desiring charm and an old fashion farmhouse setting.||||Jim and MaryAnn||||||Tips for first-time travelers .....||||First-time guests ought to ask questions in advance, especially if they have particular needs or expectations or have never stayed in a 100+ year old building before.||||Staff and caretakers are busy around the property during the day and often not seen at night, but each person is attentive and caring and will go out of their way if you have a question or need. Be sure to let them know.||||The two smaller rooms in the farmhouse have clawfoot tubs with a shower attachment, but no shower enclosure. They are designed for soaking or sit-down bathing, not for stand-up showering. ||||No televisions exist anywhere at the Inn, which seems to be a wise decision of the innkeepers. The Inn is wonderfully quiet at all times of day/night.||||Directions to the Inn are simple and the residential roads are well maintained. Late-night arrivals should review a diagram of the property before arrival as it can be dark and unfamiliar at night.||||Guests have the option of jointing other travelers for a prepared breakfast at 9:00AM in the dining room or eating in the Cafe' (complimentary if arranged...
