10 minutes from a town that shuts down after 8pm. If you like quiet camping, campfires, fishing, walking, swimming, and relaxing, then this place is for you. Just drive thru the gates and pick your campsite, then drive back to the gates and pay the honor box the camp fee. Each campsite is about 60 yards from the next campsite over with more than plenty of shade, water and electric hookups. First thing you'll want to do is meet the campground host, they are wonderful country folks and really make sure that you have everything you need to enjoy yourself. If you need to know where the big fish are along the banks, you are sure to find out if you ask. Each campsite has a camp grill, a fire pit with a grill, concrete picnic table, a pole to hang garbage out of a critters reach, and relatively close to the water. The boat ramp is on the southeast end of the big lake, the little lake does not have a boat ramp but is prefect for a small fishing boat, canoe or kayak. The paved road makes walking and riding a bike easy. The nature trails around the lakes, through the hills is peaceful and you are about guaranteed to see whitetail deer and other Mississippi wildlife. Be careful because there are snakes that like to sun along the walking trails. Mosquitoes are about the same as anywhere else you go, so grab you some deep woods off. Our scale of 1-10, this quite country campground would be a 15¼. Yes, we love it that much. If you are looking to relax in the country, then Choctaw Lake is for you. Please bypass this campground if you think you are to good to be nice to...

Other than being hot because we were stuck in the sun for more than half the trail, it stunk, trees were down all over, and they turned off running water to the water fountains. It was an absolutely miserable walk around a puddle of dirty water. Pictures of before look nice, but until they are up and running I would NOT...

Don't reserve anything down the 1-12 loop unless you want to replace tires. Do not...
