I had been rained out on a camping trip this past weekend and just so happened to stumble upon the lodge while looking for a dog friendly place to stay and I'm sure glad I did. My room was very comfortable and cozy but the best thing was the staff. Hunter gave me the initial tour of the lodge and even a tour of the boat garage. It was interesting to learn that the wooden boats they have are all hand crafted locally. Terry cooked an amazing breakfast in the morning and I loved that all the guests sat family style and told stories of where they were from and why they were at the lodge. And my absolute favorite part was the "behind the scenes tour" that Terry's husband gave me. I feel bad for forgetting his name, but he showed me a few historical pieces that I missed, the attic where henry ford used to use as a gentleman's club, and the 2 basements. As a history buff I was living the dream. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who wants to disconnect for the hustle and bustle and just relax on a porch swing and take in the beauty the Au Sable has to offer.

An off the beaten path gem. A historic bed and breakfast which primarily serves the fishing and hunting community, but suitable for anyone seeking a temporary escape from the pace of the modern world to slow down and reconnect with the natural world. Multiple porches to gaze at the surroundings while writing your memoir. No tv! Furnishings are colonial-outdoors lodge. Because of the age of the building, not handicap accessible. On site wifi. Orvis shop on site!

Beautiful historic building, absolutely beautiful location, next to Au Sable river. The employees are kind and friendly. Wondering breakfasts. Clean, cozy, comfortable rooms, and a fly fishing shop. Will absolutely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet, cozy, beautiful little getaway.

Quintessential northern michigan outdoor lodging experience located directly on the river. Nothing fancy, but true to the up north outdoorsman expectations you have when fly fishing or hunting in Northern Michigan. Judy and her staff are warm, and welcoming. The rooms are all different and clean, furnished with a collection of quilts, wool blankets, antiques, and sporting art. Most but not all bathrooms are shared, with plenty of warm water and towels after a long days adventure. The lodge itself is inviting and cozy with two large areas to sit, read, or just chat with your companions. The kitchen area is open and offers complementary beverages and snacks for guests. There is an attached Orvis shop offering various items for both hunting and fishing. Breakfast is included and Judy does a great job trying to accommodate any dietary requests, which our party this trip had many. Great place to stay if you just want to check out the fall colors and relax, all the while feel like your historically stepping back in time when the simplicity of life is at its best. NBUC is truly is hidden gem! The Lodge is currently for sale, anyone with energy, down to earth personality, and marketing skills could really grow the business. I...

We had a wonderful experience at the North Branch Outing Club. My wife and I stayed at Fuller’s NBOC for the 4th of July weekend. Our host, Judy Fuller was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. She went out of her way to make our experience a good one. Fishing on the river, right outside of the front door, was great.|||| We stayed in the “Douglas Suite”. I chose this because it, like the “New Suite”, has its own bathroom. The room was clean and charming and a page right out of the early 1900’s. The Bed and Breakfast was not crowded at all, and most of the time we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, including access to the kitchen. This included a refrigerator to keep soda and snacks cold.|||| The fishing on the river in front of the Bed and Breakfast was awesome. The lobby has hooks to hang your waders on and a bench to change in and out of them. I was great to be able to walk down stairs in stocking feet, change into your waders, and walk out the front door to fish. The fly shop keeps a list of all the hot flies for your day of fishing. The North Branch of the Au Sable River is a Michigan quality fishing area and did not disappoint.|||| Thank you again Judy for a...

If your looking for luxury, keep looking. That said, this place is amazing, it's like stepping back in time 100 years. It's right on a beautiful section of the river and you can literally take a few steps and be fishing the North Branch. Sitting on the screened in second floor porch and listening to the river at night is truly special, the same spot where auto barons, business tycoons and many other world famous folks of their day sat and sipped bourbon and listened to the river. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The owner Dave even gave my son and I a master class in fly casting on the house! this is likely because we were there at a slow time but still, so greatly appreciated. Breakfast was served every morning at 8AM sharp and was delicious. Aside from that your on your own for food but Lewsiton is a 10 minute drive and has some decent options. Again, If your looking for something with all the regular amenities of a modern day hotel this isn't it, if your looking for a truly unique experience in a beautiful northern Michigan setting, this is your place. We...
