We were traveling from western side of Michigan to Alpena and Rogers City for the weekend. From the road, the building doesn't look like much. As you walk inside, it's a very large and expansive restaurant with a bar. Then you go outside and they have several levels of deck.. I think there were three levels that stretched out towards the river that ran along the back of the property. In the trees that were canoes supposedly left there from the river flooding over but I think it was really just decoration. But it's really cool. Sat outside on the deck. Nice weather so it was very comfortable. I had the grilled cheese sandwich and it was tasty and delicious- great cheese to bread ratio (2 slices cheese, thin sour dough bread). My friens had salads that were quite sizeable. One had shrimp and the other had a chicken breast added to the salad. They were happy with the cook on their proteins. The flowers around the decks and building were still well kept and lush, even though the high season has passed. The server was very sweet and accommodating.

It's the perfect little up North place to have a drink and some great pizza! Pizza is fantastic, the place is rustic and perfectly set on the North Branch of the Au Sabl. Victoria was a great host and made it seem like we weren't strangers in a remote bar. Love going here everytime we are in the Hartwick Pines area. Can't wait to go back, its tradition.

How can you not love this place?!? Riverside, homey up north atmosphere, excellent and friendly staff, no scrimping on food! New owners since December have already made a great impression on us, guests since 1984…. Now dog friendly! Reinforced as one of my favorite spots in northern Michigan.

Not very fond of going some where to be accused of not paying for a tab in April. The owner walked up and asked for my name and then said I didn’t pay a $121.00 tab. I explained it wasn’t mine but would try contacting who I thought it may be, and that the bartenders probably put my name on it because I was the only one they knew in the group. Then the owner accused me of talking smack about the bartenders - I don’t believe stating they put my name on it only knowing me is talking smack. Service on my cell sucked so couldn’t message at that time anyway. She proceeded to keep telling me not to talk about her bartenders, and said she was just going to eat the $121.00. Thanks that’s great, but not cool to be drinking then randomly walk up to someone and accuse them of not paying a tab instead of asking. Been 15+ years since I’ve been in there and April was the first time, last night was my second…makes it hard to want to go back to a...

Do not recommend. Beware of this place. I would never step foot in it again after witnessing the things I have. Never in my life have I met these types of people. Be very cautious if the owners are drinking. Patrons have left falling down drunk, wetting their pants on the seats, relieving themselves outside, etc. I am 65 and a highly respected member of society. Retired executive with over 40 years at General Motors and have never in my life been treated worse. Many prior employees will confirm they do not like the owners and only work there because they need a job and so they can be very slow when owners aren’t watching. And I have other concerns. I would never eat the food knowing what I do for health reasons. I hugged the owners kid’s boyfriend and the owners assaulted me as they were intoxicated. Check out the other...
