We rented the lodge for a several-day family reunion. The building itself was great. There were plenty of beds and bedrooms (though it was a bit odd to have six bedrooms but only two bathrooms on the main level, while three of the four downstairs bedrooms had attached baths). The kitchen was adequately stocked (though only one regular sized fridge in a ten bedroom house was a bit tight). The kids loved the air hockey and pool tables and the bin of assorted toys (a doll and accessories, some action figures and cars, lots of books). There was plenty of outdoor space, as well, though the pictures on VRBO failed to show the abandoned (but very cool) buildings on either side of the lodge and the other cabin right out front. The nearby community pool was also a nice perk.
The downside of this rental was the amount of cleaning required, despite the fact that we paid a hefty cleaning fee. Having to scrub the oven, vacuum and spot wash all the floors, empty all trash cans, strip beds, etc. all while trying to pack and get out the door by 11 made for a stressful end to the reunion. Additionally, it appeared that the owners accessed the building at least once during our rental period, since we returned from an outing to find a few items moved inside. We've rented numerous large homes for reunions before and never had either of those issues. So the space itself is great, the required cleaning and invasion of privacy,...
ย ย ย Read moreWe stayed at the huge lodge that holds 30 people. The area itself is beautiful. The scenery amazing. The house? Didnt meet my espectations. We were in the room that the wall was next to kitchen. You hear people talking, you hear the chairs on the floor, you hear the microwave etc. But thats all understandable, what i didnt understand were the beds. For the price we paid for this house it should have been perfect! Our bed? Where do i start. The "quilt" or "comforter" (hard to even call it that, as it was almost paper thin) was smelly and looked soo dirty! And i know why! At the check out time it says to collect all laundry except the quilts ๐ Soo my assumption is that they dont get washed? Or get washed once in a while? I dont know but ours smelled weird. The bedding yes, was nice and fresh and smelled of chlorine, but not the quilt. The pillows were hard an impossible to sleep on. Another thing was our bed itself was soo rickety!! The first time i laid down, and turned to the side, i honeslty thought one of the kids were running around because of the sounds that echoed!! But nope, it was the bed. Soo by the end of our stay, everyone was sleep deprived, and a bit annoyed, but aside from that, it was great spending time together with the family ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ My advice? Invest in some sturdy bed frames and better comforters, maybe duvet...
ย ย ย Read moreIt was weird from the get go that cameras are all over the place. It's really creepy and makes you wonder if they have any inside. Walls are super thin so you can hear between rooms quite easily. Having to pay a cleaning fee only to have to heavy clean yourself is a bit extra. Turns out the waters of the river are so polluted that locals don't even step foot in it. It's a mosyly blocked view by trees so hard to enjoy the mountain views and the cabin was ok. But feeling like you are being watched the whole time kinda ruins the ability to relax. Fridge doesn't come close to being the right size for the amount of people the house holds. I would only recommend if they back off with the cameras, only charge a cleaning fee if you leave it dirty, up sizing the fridge, even then it wouldn't be a very strong recommendation. There are other cabins we saw driving around that had better views and no big brother. *DO NOT GO IN THE WATER!! All the rivers and streams in that area is very high in ecoli. Look it up and check the levels before you go in it. They are even higher...
