Great clean and friendly hotel right off the highway in a nice small town! I’ve been staying here for over a month while I work on a nearby wind farm and have been absolutely happy with this place, definitely better than other recent hotel/motels I’ve stayed at. My room is very clean and well maintained, everything works properly, and most of all the bed is quite comfortable! The staff are all friendly and helpful and the onsite manager is super friendly and ready to help with whatever at any hour. The hotel is a quiet place and I’ve not seen any trouble-makers/riff-raff, that’s very important to me as many other hotels have people drinking in the parking lot, being loud, and making guests worry about their vehicles and possessions, thankfully this place isn’t like that at all, not once have I worried about fellow guests nor my property! Speaking of parking, the parking spots are very wide, enough so that I don’t have to worry about others banging their doors into my full-size pickup (which I get to park right outside my window!), and I can fully open my doors without worrying about others vehicles! The guests are diverse, there are several people like myself that are here for a while to work construction projects (not roughnecks, just respectable hard working people) as well as grandparent traveler types, during the Sturgis rally there were some bikers but not the “biker” types.
The manager has the most friendly, and frankly adorable, pup who loves attention though she generally stays in the managers room or office since the manager knows there are some people who don’t like dogs.
The owners aren’t seen too often though on weekends they come in to work on various aspects of the hotel. They seem like a nice couple. I’ve been told they bought the hotel within the last few years and have been reinvesting in the property overtime improving rooms and services. There are some signs that this place wasn’t always well maintained under previous owners, though the current owners have done a lot and are continuing to improve it greatly.
Overall I highly recommend this hotel whether you’re needing a nights rest while traveling or you’re needing a longer stay while in the area for work! If I’m back in this area in the future I will be...
Read moreWe booked ahead for a handicap accessible King room. The pictures are doctored to make the room look larger am more accessible than reality. The shower handheld is broken and does not conform to the requirement of the ADA. The shower chair is too low for an ADA requirement. The toilet only has one grab bar and no side transfer access which is required by the ADA. The sink is outside the bathroom behind the entry door to the room. The sink is not roll under for wheelchair access as required by the ADA. The hairdryer and towels and wash cloths are all outside of our reach sitting in wheelchairs. The maneuvering room in this room is nonexistent. It’s very tight and single file. The front desk does not have a lower stand or clipboard. I had to sign documents in the breakfast area. The front desk attend charged us an animal fee for service animal upon check-in. We explained he’s a service animal and is exempt from pet fees. We were charged anyways. We were also told the only handicap room is a pet free room when we first checked in. We had to reiterate the dog is a service animal and not a pet and that we need the handicap accessible room that we booked. The handicap parking is on a slope and there is a protruding curb cut into the access lane. All of which violates the ADA. The staff left in the night to go to personal errands leaving the front hotel area unstaffed. The staff overnight had the tv on so loud that one couldn’t sleep as all they could hear was the tv. Our tv kept coming on and turning off on its own until we unplugged it. The breakfast couldn’t pass as food in my opinion. It was gross. Amanda- the manager- works one day a week. So she couldn’t be troubled when we needed a manager due to the huge list of concerns and issues. Days later- we found out she left a note for us that she will not entertain a refund. Yet the staff violated the law by charging for a service animal. Not even an apology?!?! This is by far the worst hotel I have...
Read moreThe room was aesthetically pleasing when we walked in. New carpet, nicely decorated. Thought it would be okay even with questionable reviews. It ended up being the WORST HOTEL we have ever stayed in. The coverlet on the bed had a burn hole that was 2" by 1/2". Next to it were two large smudges that looked like it was used to clean an ash tray. We took off the coverlet and opened the bed. There were dark stains in two large places on the cover sheet. My husband went to get a clean one, and the lady at the front desk gave him 2. Good thing, cuz the first one we tried was also stained. Yuck. There was what I thought was a bath mat in the tub. It looked a little dirty, so I tried to pick it up, and when only the edge lifted, I realized it was glued down somehow. Under the edge was lots of crud. Again, Yuck. The outer door and the bathroom door both had the veneer peeling off at the bottom. Maybe a disadvantage of allowing pets, I don't know. The molding between the bathroom and the hallway was broken and missing in two spots. In those spots, the carpet was frayed and there was dirt in the broken areas. The toilet paper holder was only resting in the hole in the wall, and when I attempted to pull toilet paper, it dislodged 1/2" and hung there. The breakfast had eggs. I wanted eggs. They were cold. Really cold. Turns out they had the egg patties in the warmer, but hadn't turned it on. And had no utensil in them to get them out. I used my fork. We left swearing to never stay again in a Super 8! And for sure never this one!! Disgusting to say the least!! PS Restaurant next door had good food and was tasty, but...
