Gateway Inn — Hotel in Lyman

It is what it is - inexpensive room for the night. Odd room layout, especially with a king bed that took 90% of it. Window coverings were not sufficient, walking by them produced enough air current to open a crack that looked directly onto the bed. A/C unit is located beside the bed, and blew directly onto the free standing closet that took up 5% of the room, because over night guests use so much closet space. Mini fridge started leaking water onto carpet once adjustable leg backed out when door was opened. Toilet seat became detached when leaning to wipe. Pet friendly, but need to cross the main road for a place for your pet to do their business. However... I slept well. King bed was darned comfortable and despite time traveling back to the 60s during my overnight stay, I felt safe enough to relax. Pizza in town was darned quick, too. Nothing...

Second stay here at the Gateway...thought in two years there might have been some upgrades and there were... but really not that many. It is the only place to stay in Lyman so you really don't have a choice.||They now have a USB charger in each room and a Keurig coffee maker which was nice. The refrigerator and microwave seemed a better quality than what we remember ...but there is no blow dryer/iron and the A/C unit is very loud. The blower in the bathroom did not work and there was no way to stop the tub except with a washrag. We had the same issues when we stayed 2 years ago. The rooms were kind of "blah" and we could hear people outside our room walking/talking.||The person checking us in was nice...seemed nervous/unsure so wondering if he was new? They saved us from sleeping in our van for the night! I'm a Canadian moving to the USA and I can't really reserve hotels cause I'm not sure what time we'd arrive with the 40+hours we have to drive. Yesterday was a Lil worrisome... Every hotel, motel and ins we called around town were fully booked solid. We were getting to a point of feeling defeated until my husband called them. We told them we were around an hour away and they said that at that time no one would be at the desk but they whent above and beyond to make sure we could get a room and get our room key.
