A grubby middle age guy met us at the door and showed us the rooms. He stated he'd been living in the unit we were going to stay in, a 2 bedroom unit, for the last couple months. Sure enuf when we looked in the little kitchen cupboards they were stocked with his groceries and things he used daily, as was the little frig. The door to the unit was propped open with an old wash cloth. As he was about to leave I asked for a room key and he said it was right over there on the table a little while ago. Then he told us you really don't need one, it's pretty safe around here. When I insisted he get us a key he went and found one, a skeleton key. He said he's staying in the room at the end of the hall which had it's door open and you could see a messed up bed. The bathroom was his daily bathroom and had used rugs in it and smelled of pee as well as burned out lights and busted towel rack. The other room we reserved was connected to a 'community' bathroom. That had used items in it as if in someone's home, a used half rolled up toothpaste, used shampoo bottles in the shower and a dirty washcloth on the floor next to a hamper. Since we were in a hurry to get to the wedding, we changed and got going. We returned after the wedding dance early in the morning around 1am. When we turned down the sheets it looked like the bed had been slept in and the sheets not fresh rather soiled and smelled of BO. We checked the other room and those sheets looked clean and smelled fresh. We decided we were not going to stay here and ended up driving to a relatives place in the middle of the night. ||||This is really sad becuz the building has a lot of old charm to it and could be a really neat old place to stay if only it was managed...
Read moreThe greatest hotel to ever exit anywhere on earth. Nothing could compare to the extravagant luxury that I experienced here; the room service is impeccable, and the facilities are truly a sight to behold. This is the place where dreams come true, where you never want to leave for home because the treatment you receive here cannot be matched by anything else imaginable. I felt a king and a god during my stay at Mable House, because the devotion that the staff and owners show to their guests is second to none. Books will be written about the enduring charm of the place, inspiring many hundreds of millions around the world to yearn for a chance to even grace their eyes upon the facade, watching with trepid anticipation about the wonders inside. Future courses for hospitality students will cover the operations of this hotel in significant detail. It is an experience that will never leave me, indeed it was life changing. My soul has been awakened like never before. If only it was possible to give this hotel a trillion...
Read morestayed here on short notice last week, the owners were great in working with us.||||The rooms are very clean and pleasant! There is still renovation happening, so we saw a few tools in the hallway, (as they were working on other rooms) but they plan to be done shortly and it will really be a pleasure!||||The historic building maintains the character of the old hotel from a bygone era. The quality and comfort of the bed itself was equal to those we have enjoyed in Marriott properties.||||We had breakfast at BBG's (local diner on the corner; serves breakfast & lunch Mon-Sat). For a very fair price, we had a big breakfast.||||We usually come to town to visit family, but this also would be a great, inexpensive overnight stop for someone wishing to tour Amish country and see the beauty of the surrounding area.||||With Seed Savers and Niagra cave down the road, it's a great weekend trip...
