Stayed for three nights over the Memorial Day weekend while visiting Madison and the surrounding area. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. We had a 2 Queen room on the third floor facing the highway junction. In addition to two beds the room had a small refrig and microwave. The room was small and there was not much room to move around. There was a small table with lamp and ice bucket that was barely big enough to set up a laptop. Had problems with a new A/C unit. It was hard to keep the room cool without setting the controls to 67 degrees or cooler. The A/C unit is positioned across from the head of the bed nearest the window. This is a strange arrangement since the person sleeping in that bed gets a blast of air in the face every time the unit comes on. In most hotels we have stayed in the A/C unit is in the corner of the room at the foot of the beds. Speaking of cooling the hallways were very warm and A/C units on both ends appeared to be off. The bathroom was the only part of the room that was of ample size but it needed more light over the shower/tub area. The room was clean and the beds had multiple pillows.
The breakfast offerings in the morning were good with a variety of hot and cold offerings. They did not change from morning to morning. Some variety for those staying more than one night would be nice. Our issue with breakfast was the size of the room. It was entirely too small for the number of guests. A limited number of tables (around 6) filled quickly and one morning we were forced to eat in the walkway to the elevator while guests picked up newspapers from the small table we were attempting to eat from. The breakfast hostess like the rest of the staff was very nice and tried to do what she could to keep the room clean and stocked but at times she seemed frazzled by the overflow crowds.
The hotel location is convenient to both lower and upper Madison and Ciifty Falls SP. It would be OK for an overnight stay but I would not recommend it for multiple nights or a base for an extended stay in the...
Read moreMy niece, her husband and 16-year-old daughter had a nightmare of an experience dealing with the staff at this Comfort Inn. It is absolutely despicable what happened to them.
On their way home, they noticed a $50 charge on their bill and called to ask what the charge represented. The hotel staff member who answered the phone told them they had brought in a pet, which had defecated in the corner of the room. They have NO pet. They then called to speak to a supervisor and spoke to Ms. Sonal Patel, who called them a liar — that they did have a pet and would not be reimbursed the $50.
The hotel staff reviewed security footage and saw no pet. Ms. Patel then said it must’ve been a toddler — though my niece’s daughter is a teen (and taller than my niece) — not a toddler. Ms. Patel then said they must’ve brought a toddler into the room who would’ve defecated on the floor.
After my niece denied bringing a toddler into the room, Ms. Patel called her a liar (yet again). Her husband, my nephew-in-law, called and was given the same spiel, and was called a liar by Miss Patel. I had the benefit of overhearing this call.
Granted, $50 is not much in the scheme of things, but it is unacceptable that the hotel staff would call them liars and not consider the possibility that the pet feces could have been in the room and missed by the cleaning staff. (I know my family was exhausted after driving six hours and could have missed it in a dark corner of the room.)
Recommendation: STAY AWAY from this hotel. and find an air BNB or a hotel in a nearby area.
AN UPDATE: My nephew-in-law, Chad, just received the response below from Ms. Patel — not the most costumer-focused message I...
Read moreI have stayed 105 nights in hotels this year, mostly work related. I am a diamond elite member of Choice Hotels. Probably 10% of my 105 nights have been at this particular location, in Madison, Indiana. I generally ask for a late check out, and have always been allowed 1 or 2 pm check out times, whichever I've asked for, that was granted. My wife travels with me as she has been sick for over a year now, nearly died in April, 2017. On 12/6/17, I stayed at this location, and had requested a late check out. At 12:15 p.m. I was still on the job, and thought I would be later that 1, so I called my wife at the hotel room. Josh, the desk clerk on duty, told my wife if it was past 1 when I arrived, we would be charged another night. My wife replied, my husband might be only a few minutes late, I will just cart our luggage down to the lobby, and wait there. Mind you, there were a total of approximately 6 vehicles in the parking lot, as there weren't many guests there. Josh told my wife, she wouldn't be allowed to wait in the lobby, and we would be charged another night as we were in a highly sought after room. REALLY, you had 6 guests the previous night! Needless to say, I returned to the hotel at 12:40, in time to meet my 1 pm check out. However, as I told Josh, that will not be an issue again, we will stay elsewhere. They were even so slow, they called Alberta, our friend from staying there so many times, and had her stay home due to not enough guests to make...
