The price is NUTS!! You can stay in a NICE downtown Portland hotel for less than what we paid!! NOT worth it!! The lobby has a huge fireplace where the smoke was lingering in the lobby and it smelled like a campsite.🔥⛺️ It's fire season, so the smoke was coming at us in all directions. Watch out asthmatics! 🌫 The hotel is a maze! Broken elevator. Baaaaad planning! Not sure how you can go from floor two in the lobby, walk down a ramp and you're on the fifth floor of the hotel rooms. 😳 The rooms are HOT!!! 😓 There's "air conditioning" in the room that you can't feel. The air was on it's coolest setting, but it was still HOT. There are built in drawers/armoire in the wall, which is only about a foot away from the side of the bed. 🤔 In the TOP of the armoire (about five feet high), there isn't a tv...there's a little fridge!! Serious?? You have to get on the bed to get to the fridge do a stupid reach around. There's no microwave. The room can't get completely dark to nap during the day because the drapery is so worn. The sun shines through the peeled off backing! ☀️ There's a small balcony, but in order to get to the door to go outside, you have to squeeze between the window and the side of a bed. OMG and the bathroom...or should I say WHAT bathroom!? It's just a toilet and a small shower. The only room in there is to get in the bathroom and side step to close the door. 👎🏽🚿 I don't like how isolated 🏜 this place is because you can't just jump in your car and find a restaurant nearby. There is NOTHING here!! Bring LOTS of snacks and drinks! I went to the little store by the lobby and the girl told my sister to stay away from the chocolate 🍫 because it's kind of melted and if she does buy chocolate, to put it in the fridge when we get back to the room. 😳 The only snacks they had were chips, candy, nuts, and jerky ($6+ for a small pack of two pieces of jerky). 🍫🥜Not much selection AT ALL!! I've only been here for a couple of hours and I already told my sister that I won't be back and she agreed. The "Grill" at the lodge just serves bar food. The waitress was very friendly. I think it was "bring your kids/siblings to work day" there. 😳 The live entertainment was a joke. I had to get my laughs out before being seated (the singer's voice and instrument was off, but he sure was jamming). 🙊We have massages booked in the morning. I'm scurred. 😳 Had my massage. Lori, the front desk lady, was frazzled and running around like a chicken with its head cut off. She was making things more complicated than it should be. Before our mineral soak, she said don't splash water cuz that won't make her happy (to clean up). Wow! The jets didn't work. The control panel in my tub was glued upside down and my sister's control panel was cracked open. 😳⚡️While in the front waiting area, there was a girl walking to the spa, and Lori was whispering to herself, "Please don't come in here. Please don't come in here." The girl came in there. lol There was a couple who told her that the jets didn't work and Lori was telling us that they complained about it (duh) and made hand motions like they were yapping. Employees shouldn't b*tch about customers to other customers. I was told that my massage was at 10:30am, so I arrived at 10am to soak first. I was wondering why everything was taking so long. I asked about my massage appointment time and Lori told me that my massage was at 11:30am. WTH!? So I gave her a jacked up look and walked away pissed. Lori was making calls when we were there and slamming the phone down when people wouldn't answer. The therapist, Joanna was nice and has strong hands, but like I said earlier, "I won't be back." 👎🏽😖😒 Found out later than when mom was looking for her slippers, she lifted up the bed skirt and found a bunch of Fritos. When mentioned to the front desk at check-out, the girl just...
Read moreWent to resort to use the pool facilities on September 1, 2024. Remodeled pool is nice, but on a day that was just shy of 100 degrees, the only pool that was really cooling was the one with the lazy river and the volleyball & basketball games. My husband and I ended up in the lazy river, which was more like a shoulder to shoulder treadmill. People were hoarding the pool noodles (some adults AND groups of kids had 6+ pool noodles EACH) so most people didn’t have one to use and were just walking the lazy river, kids were having a great time playing chase jumping in between and crashing into people- no fault to them- but it wasn’t the experience we envisioned. The pool water was definitely of a quality that after opening at 11am, by 1pm, you didn’t even want to THINK about what it looked like and what was floating in it. It was FULL of floaters of all kinds … broken pool noodle pieces, hair galore, bugs, sunscreen … and goodness knows what else. Bathrooms don’t seem to be remodeled and the women’s locker room/restroom was very much in need of service by 5:30pm. I heard a couple people in stalls hollering for help as they had no toilet paper in their stall. As others have mentioned, towels are $5 per towel to rent, so bring your own or fork out the dough!
I’ve seen people posting that a burger and fries cost $30, and I think that might pertain to the restaurant at the lodge. The pool restaurant is about $15 for a burger, $12 for nachos, etc. The frustration is that when you order food, you have to go wait in a separate line (AGAIN) to order a drink. You literally can’t order your food and drink at the same line. Kinda frustrating. The bar had 3-4 people working the area and only one register going and no one seemed to care about the line and had absolutely no hop in their step. That made it worse. Overall the food prices are high (no shock), but what we ate was decent in flavor, and I was still less expensive than Disneyland to eat lunch!
The pool facility store, where you also can rent a Cabana, buy snacks, sunscreen, etc, had two registers, but only one open and the one they had open was the one right by the door, so all the families making purchases at the register were blocking the entry/exit from the store to the pool area. Seems like if you’re going to only open one register, and create a line through the store, maybe don’t also block the doorway to add to the frustrations and chaos. I frequently overheard “this is crazy- does anyone know what they’re doing?” while waiting in line.
Overall it has improved since closing several years ago. I hope they can gain adequate staffing, read these reviews and evaluate some areas for making improvements to their systems and have a successful resort!
We will definitely be willing to go back and experience it again- probably in weather that’s a bit cooler so hopefully the pools aren’t so crowded due to such high outdoor temperature making two of the 4 pools almost unbearable to sit in. Gotta remember these are pools fed by natural...
Read moreWe were so excited they reopened. I grew up going here. We were disappointed in the way we were treated and all of the miscommunication happening between staff. A lot of workers seemed irritated at us. There were a few super nice ones though! There is mini golf, a tennis court, some ping pong tbales, and TV's with games outside. The hotel rooms are updated and the bed is so comfortable!
We called ahead multiple times to make sure we had all of the information before going. One thing that we called multiple times about was the inner tubing down the river. And we were told twice that while they prefer water shoes you can wear flip-flops and just tuck them into your life jacket.
When we got there, we were told that they don't allow anybody in the inner tubes unless they have shoes that have straps that go around the back of their foot. They wouldn't even let us go. We explained that we had called ahead of time and we were given different information but that didn't seem to matter. They just said, "Well, they were wrong. You can buy shoes at our gift shop."
The pool situation is decent. I love that they are all wellness centered. They are all mineral pools. There is a quiet pool (no rough play) and two very big hot tubs with two different temperatures. They also have a cold Plunge area. Which was so nice on those hot days! The only downside is that I feel like there was not as much room as there was before so the pool tends to get incredibly crowded on Saturday. If you have a room you're allowed down to the pool area before all the day use people get there and also for a couple hours after. So there are times when it is much quieter.
There was also a lot of consusion around the cabanas. So if you're wondering, when you rent one of their hotel rooms it comes with one Cabana reservation per day. You can either choose two single Cabanas or one double. What they call a cabana are just chaise loungers with covers that can go up or down. When you check in, you need to go down to the gift shop by the pool and reserve your choice of Cabanas for your entire stay.
The food options were just okay. There is only one restaurant and it's by the pool. They have a pretty limited menu. There are things like burgers, pizza, chicken strips, and nachos. They do still have their phenomenal fry bread, which I highly recommend! They do sometimes have their Wellness food cart open which is around the corner from the restaurant. It has limited hours. But it does offer some healthier options like salads, wraps, and bowls. But overall, the food is pretty standard resort...
