The Valley Inn — Hotel in Maggie Valley

Such an interesting place. ||Pros: Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly. The area out back next to the beautiful bold creek is wonderful - with lots of seating areas, a cupola, and a fire pit that the owners seem to fire up & keep going in the evening for the guests' enjoyment. Housekeeping were friendly and did their jobs well. Our room was very clean and comfortable... and had a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave. It was nice having a deck running the length of the building outside our room for sitting and enjoying the view and creek if desired. The price was very fair.||Cons: Now, some of these may not matter much to some guests - they didn't all matter to us... but I want to mention them so others understand the compromises. Kind of oddly, no shampoo is provided - only bars of soap. No hair dryer is provided. If we'd known this ahead of time, we'd have brought shampoo and our hair dryer. Perhaps it's mentioned on their website and I missed it. If it isn't mentioned, it should be. The walls are very thin. In the morning, we could easily hear our neighbor loudly blowing his nose! As mentioned, there's a coffee maker (& powdered cream, sugar, etc.).... but nothing to stir the coffee with. ||Again, overall we enjoyed the Valley Inn... and like supporting a throwback "Mom & Pop" property like this. The price is right, it's clean, and if you know what to expect and are OK with it, it's a nice place to spend a night or two in...

This stay was not like all the rest. Andy the owner/operator for years had passed the helm on to new owners / managers. Some quest had loud music on the creekside Saturday night to the point of the TV in the room couldnt block it out. ABike was parked in the access drive way to the rear of the motel. I ride and have stayed in the same room that the bike was parked in front of. This would have been addressed with in moment of happening normally. Didn't seem to bother new owners / managers. Been coming here many years with good thoughts of the valley Inn. Heard a few other quest speaking of these same thoughts as we departed. Would hope the new owners will take note to what's happening and get this beautiful, normally quiet location and...

Ok I am normally pretty easy on places , you can read all of my reviews , this place albeit clean was just a 2.5 at best. I give it that basically for the the cool little creek at the back . The rooms are just that a room to sleep in . I mean seriously we walked in it was like 60 degrees in the room . I was like there is nothing but an AC unit. Finally I found an Electric heater under the sink 🤔. That was the only source of heat . Not sure how it passed any kind of inspection with power strips everywhere lol . There is lamp next to the bed . Oh wait no place to plug it in unless u do it over the sink lol . Like I said basic room to sleep in ....
