Good, but not great. Small lodge with 11 rooms. It felt B&B-ish without the breakfast. I was in the “Studio” (which is the smallest room). Honestly, it was a bit strange, but worked okay for me for an overnight stay. The bed is recessed about 2 feet with shelving above and almost against the far wall, which left no room for even a small night stand. The TV was large, there was a small desk in the “kitchen” area near the small refrigerator and microwave. And there was shelving with plates and glasses, and even stuff to wash them with, but no sink basin to actually do the washing if I remember correctly (and the sink in the bathroom is too small). BTW, the pictures of “The Studio” on their website is NOT the room I was in! The bathroom is very small, but functional. They did forget to provide any hand or bath soap (so I used the dish soap!). Which reminds me, the check in process was to grab the envelope with your name on it off the bulletin board just outside my room and let yourself in with a passcode provided inside. No office to my knowledge and I never saw anyone affiliated with the lodge (although I was only there for just over 12 hours overnight, but if I wanted bath soap, I didn’t know where I could go to request some). The WiFi worked okay, but looks like they have a data limit and my PC’s auto-backup burned through all of it (gotta remember to turn that off...
Read moreWe stayed in the Edelweiss for 1 night, it seemed fairly clean. There was a broken window, but that will happen when you get 30 feet of snow in town over the course of the winter. There is a full kitchen, but very poorly stocked with utensils and such for cooking. We woke up in the morning to mice running around the room, they ran under the heater. I looked under there to find mouse droppings and an obvious gapping hole where they were entering. The pictures show this. I realize mice can come into tiny spaces but the hole is very big and obviously no effort has been given to fix it. I went to the front office in the morning to inform them, but no one was there. I called the emergency number, but no one answered. I proceeded to call the hotel 3 more times over the last few weeks and left messages. No response. When I called over and over today, finally someone picked up, and then the owner(?) called me back. He was extremely rude, said he did not get any of my messages, suggested I was lying, and basically told me that Mammoth Lakes is in the forest, so I should expect mice in my room. He offered no apology and obviously, no refund at all. When I contacted Hotels.com, they called Edelweiss and they still refused any kind of refund or voucher. If you like mice in your room, rude owners, and no one present at the front desk ever, this is the...
Read moreThis place has NO HEATING. There is no thermostat, and no AC either. Totally ridiculous to rent out a room without basic necessities like climate control. Some rooms have a woodburning stove, mine didn't. This might be ok with you but you should know before booking.
It's uncomfortable to be bundled up to your eyeballs when it's 38 degrees outside at night in mid June. If I wanted to be camping I wouldn't have rented a cabin. The space heater provided was not enough and my room was cold all night. However, the room was very clean, parking was provided, and checking in was easy.
I stayed in studio 11, which is unlike any of the pictures on the website and also lacks privacy curtains (had to put small towels under the blinds to ensure privacy and theres no way to let in light without letting everyone see in.), light blocking curtains over the door, and a secondary door lock for safety. I left...
