It had been over 10 years since my family and I had camped at French Camp. Since then the campground has made vast improvements. They have bear lockers installed on each campsite. This is very helpful as it is an obvious deterrent from bears, but more importantly the overly friendly chipmunks. The chipmunks have no shame in their game, when it comes to raiding food that is open, and we lost a bag of hot Cheetos that we forgot to put away. The cleanliness and upkeep of this campground is impeccable. Using the bathroom, when camping can be a bit of a nightmare, but that is not the case here. The campground manager, Chuck, goes around to each restroom and cleans it on a daily basis. Rock Creek offers a great opportunity for fishermen of all levels to grab a decent catch. The Creek is regularly filled with rainbow trout, from a nearby hatchery, so it's fairly easy to catch something, if you go when the creek is restocked. Lastly, the campground manager, Chuck, is awesome. When we first arrived at French Camp, he pointed us in the direction of the best spot for our group of 8. After we got there, he noticed that we didn't have any firewood, and dropped it off to our site at a bargain. He was extremely helpful and knowledgable of the area and pointed us in the direction of the best fishing spots and hot springs.

Read moreFirst time camping in our tent in the Sierra and we loved it! I have always been skeptical about camping in this area because of the bears and just being really cold. We camped the last week of camping season in October I was hoping to catch some of the fall foliage and it did not disappoint. Clean sites there was hardly anyone there it felt like we were the only ones there. The sites are Nice in space some are small and some are huge. Restrooms were nice and clean at all hours of the day. It was just beautiful. I can’t wait to come back. Host were nice and informative. We did not see any bears, according to the host one comes down every day but because we had dogs they would keep away from our site. Sites are close to the creek. We also got snow one day it was beautiful! Best tent camping experience ever. 2nd time camping at French camp now in September the holiday king wkd. Beautiful as the 1st time we had a great time one of my favorite spots to camp at. Our site was even bigger than last time we just didn’t have that much shade during the day but we would cook breakfast and then take off to explore and do small hikes. This time around we didn’t need a heater as it was really hot during the day and we were okay at night just with our sleeping bags. We also added another husky to our pack and there was plenty of room. We...
Read moreSite 71 is amazing! My bf and I were looking for a campsite for weeks for Memorial day weekend. Everything was booked. I was able to find this campground super last minute with ONE spot left. I think someone may have cancelled last minute so we got super lucky. We were not expecting much since it was the last spot so we assumed it wouldn’t be great. We were WRONG. It was HUGE. Some other spots we saw were so tiny so we got so lucky. It’s pretty private too as the sites on both sides are pretty distant. Not crammed at all. We couldn’t even see the people on one of two sides at all. No one in front of us either since what is in front is the creek just across the road. So you can hear the sound of the water all day! It felt like it was just the two of us pretty much the whole weekend since our side was so peaceful. We definitely got super lucky. You won’t go wrong with site 71! We also drove up the road and had no idea there’s lakes up there & awesome hikes & even more campgrounds. Bathrooms really are clean too! We usually like to stay inside mammoth town but we loved this campground and the drive up there was only about 25 minutes. Such a...
