We just returned from a trip to the June Lake area and decided to visit Silver Lake Resort where we rented a boat. We arrived on the latter part of the day hoping to catch the evening bite. However, the only thing we got was a broken down boat that left us stranded and nearly sucked into the river. I went with my wife and two young boys hoping to have a pleasant experience but yet found myself struggling with a boat motor and ultimately rowing back to the dock against the current and wind. At one point one we were able see one of the boat dock assistants and we waved and yelled for him to assistance which he ignored. Can't tell you why he didn't help us, he said he didn't see us??? well we saw him!!! When we did finally row back to the dock. I asked for a rain check or a refund for the boat. Ultimately, the owner appeared and this is where it went from bad to worse. Never once did he apologize or bother to inquire on the wellbeing of my wife or my kids. I was appalled by his negative attitude and with the bundle of excuses that were monetary in nature that poured out of him. It is shame that people like this run these types of establishments who are mostly concerned of cost and profit and are careless about the wellbeing of their patrons. We will never return to Silver Lake and advise our friend and acquaintances to avoid this place when...
Read moreI consider myself a connoisseur of pancakes and have probably eaten pancakes at between 100-200 restaurants nationwide and I can legitimately say that these are tied for the second best I have ever eaten (after the Original House of Pancakes in Atlanta, GA). They were fluffy, buttery, and all-in-all an absolute melt-in-your mouth taste experience. You will likely have to wait before you are seated as the restaurant is both very small and very popular, however it is worth the wait. The atmosphere is very cozy and scenic, from the windows you can see a beautiful forested lake. The service is average speed but very friendly. If you are ever in the Mono Basin I would strongly recommend you stop by the Silver Lake Cafe for a great and stick-to-your ribs mountain breakfast, nowhere else in the area can beat it. Just to note: The Cafe closes at 2:00pm and is not...
Read moreWe arrived in our RV (5th wheel) and was greeted at the check in area. They were friendly, offered tips for getting the most out of the resort and when we pulled our 5th wheel to our assigned spot, they will meet you with a forklift and back it in. The rv spots are literally within spitting distance from each other. We didn't mind so much because everyone was friendly, felt like a little community and had a good vibe about the place. We used the general store a few times, opening up a tab on our rv spot. We rented a boat, got all our equipment, some food and paid our rv balance at the end of our stay from our tab from the general store. Everything is within walking distance (campgrounds, store, boat rentals, shore fishing). As we were leaving, I was already planning our next trip here, hopefully within the same season. I highly recommend...
