I'd previously stayed at this location while on vacation and was satisfied. The owners are very friendly and helpful; they make sure your needs are met, and that you're welcomed warmly. It's just enough outside the busy part of Manistique that it's quiet, but close enough that in just a few minutes, you're near most amenities such as restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and nearby points of interest. The continental breakfast was good. The lobby has a nice selection of magazines and newspapers, and the tourism kiosk is well-stocked with information about the area and upper peninsula. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We could not hear any noise from others staying nearby. All in all, we had a great stay, and will return should our travels take us back to Manistique. The only thing that wasn't perfect, and it's not a complaint, is that the WiFi was quite slow. I couldn't get it to launch on my phone at all, and did not fare much better on the laptop. It took about 5 minutes to load any email or social media page. We said to ourselves it was no big deal; that we were there to unwind and unplug. We did not say anything at the front desk because we weren't inconvenienced by it. I just wanted to mention it, because if access to high-speed WiFi is extremely important to you, just ask the owner if there is something that can be done to help ensure you can get online and tend to your work. Overall, 5...
Read moreSometimes you never know what to expect from a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Our room was in the main building, so we didn't need to walk outside to get to the front desk or for breakfast. We even had a 'patio door' that lead from the rom to the parking lot, or you could use the interior hallway to exit. This door made it fantastic for loading and unloading the car. The room was much larger than expected, plenty of space between the bed and walls - you could actually fit a large suitcase width wise and still have room. Our room was very clean upon arrival and everything was in it's place. Due to covid, breakfast was malted waffles, a few pieces of whole fruit, juice and coffee. The butter tasted very processed (took away from the flavor of the waffles), and was in a squeeze bottle; the syrup was in a squeeze bottle too, but was fine. Coffee was available in the breakfast/lobby area 24/7. Housekeeping was not every day due to covid, but you could request items from the front desk and they were very happy to assist....even with paper plates and napkins at 9pm to heat up a snack in the room microwave. Across the street from the hotel is the Manistique Boardwalk, no need to drive there if you are able bodied. Great path for walking and picture taking and the lighthouse is at...
Read moreThis motel has a great location and friendly staff. The woman at the desk asked if we wanted a room next to our friends (because we had made our reservations separately, we were at opposite ends), and then made that happen quickly and painlessly. The lobby and breakfast bar were clean and welcoming, and there was a nice selection for breakfast that was kept well stocked. However, there were a few issues with the room. The WIFI kept disconnecting, and the hot water in the shower kept going out. There were spider webs, and the resident spider itself, on the lamp between the beds. Our room had no drinking glasses in it. I don't know if this is standard because there are drinks available in the lobby 24/7, or simply an oversight, but if you need to take an aspirin or brush your teeth and suddenly realize you have to run down to the lobby. . . super annoying. The biggest issue, though, was that the room was really dark. It looked like it had recently been remodeled, and it was very tasteful, but the walls, bed covers and carpet were all dark blue, and the lamps had opaque shades on them, and only one brightness setting. There was no overhead light in the main area of the room. We started to open the drapes, only to realize that the room had glass patio doors that opened directly onto the parking...
