We arrived after a four hour trip from Ludington via the SS Badger across Lake Michigan. We brought our bicycles and set off on Manitowiac adventures for several days.
From entrance to exit excellent experience. Breathtaking late 1800's home! Kay gave us a tour upon arrival, showed us to our room; Virginia's music room.
Entering Virginia's Music room, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time; the era of the late 1800's decor meets your eye. Incredible intricate details of the headboard frame and fireplace show off the skills of the carpenter back in those days. Natural wood flooring, beautiful wood doors, back in time furniture, lace curtains grace the large windows, sage green walls give a sense of peace and tranquility. Stepping into the bathroom you will find it newly rennovated in gray and white marbled tiles and floor. The claw foot tub inviting you for a relaxing long soak, a stand in shower with rain shower and hand held shower handle perfect for getting ready for the day or evening. The bed comfortable for a great night's rest after exploring the town of Manitowoc.
Breakfast: Kay provides exceptional, delicious and beautiful to the eye breakfast foods. Coffee delivered outside your door about half an hour prior to breakfast, piping hot. Kevin assists with breakfast and ensures your coffee remains fresh and your cup full. Kay effectively handled my food allergies with delicious gluten free chocolate chip muffins, fruit, Canadian bacon. I'm still thinking about those gf chocolate chip muffins six weeks later!
We also enjoyed meeting the other house guests over breakfast. Be sure to have a look at all the pictures in the breakfast room and find the secret out as you intently listen as Kay and Kevin engage you in finding out ...........
It was intriguing hearing about the house history, seeing the amazing leaded glass windows. The property is well maintained, clean, comfortable and landscaping fit for the season with beautiful fall mums.
We enjoyed our stay and will be back again. If you are looking for a special place to celebrate your Anniversary or special occasion this is the place.
We explored Manitowiac, West of the Lake Gardens, the Maritime Museum and Submarine tour. We ate at the sushi restaurant for one of our evening meals which was recommended by Kay, best ever! We also attended a concert at the Capitol Civic Centre downtown.
Thank you Kevin and Kay for an awesome...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped at Toll House B&B in Manitowoc, WI on our way to Door County, WI and on the way back home. This was our first experience staying in a B&B and the time we spent in the house was absolutely amazing. This place is a real gem! The house is full of history, it is tastefully decorated with gorgeous antique furniture, old photos and pictures, and all together it creates a unique and charming atmosphere of antiquity. The house has an adorable backyard with pretty landscape and flowers.||We stayed in two different rooms between our two stays:|1. One was Virginia's Music Room, which is the biggest room at the B&B with a large balcony, fireplace, free stand bathtub and shower.|2. The second room we stayed in was Eunice's Room, a little smaller, but so lovely and bright, and it has a very modern shower.||All rooms are super clean, have lots of space and are beautifully decorated with cute vintage details. The beds are comfortable, both rooms we stayed in have walk-in closets (WIC) and super modern showers.||Kay and Keven are wonderful hosts and warm people who provide the best hospitality and take good care of their guests. Every morning Kay serves coffee on the second floor by the rooms and later both Keven and Kay serve delicious breakfast on their lovely terrace or in the dining room, depending on the weather. Kevin tells some short stories about the town or other interesting places around and answers questions from guests. When Kay meets guests she already has catalogs with notes about restaurants for dinner and suggests interesting places to go to and what to visit during your stay.||Manitowoc itself is an interesting, historical town with lots of landmarks, The town has a beautiful art museum and a famous Maritime museum, along with lots of beautiful old buildings. I hope to return there again and stay in the beautiful Toll House. I highly recommend visiting this amazing,...
Read moreWe found this place online and booked online as well. Their website detailed each room, and so we knew what our choices were ahead of time. Booking was easy, and we were greeted upon arrival by Kay, the super accommodating owner. We so enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was awesome with a great tub and separate shower. The house radiated charm at every turn, and is well appointed in antique furniture that is functional and comfortable. The common area parlor downstairs proved highly useful! Great pillow top bed with a balcony overlook off the back of our room, and our room had ample space for all our stuff. We were finishing a writing project on a deadline and Kay helped by allowing us to print on her printer. The morning meals were spectacular, super tasty and ample!!! Kevin and Kay did everything to make sure our stay was beyond pleasant, and always went the extra mile to provide for our needs, including a very early departure. We are heading back for another stay later this summer. Do yourself a favor, and treat yourself to a little luxury if heading to Manitowoc, you’ll be...
