This was our first time camping on these grounds since it switched over from Jellystone Park. It is absolutely different than it used to be and very disappointing. Ironically, I JUST read the reviews prior to making my comments and was surprised to see many negative reviews very similar to our experience. You will see QR codes all over claiming to strive for cleanliness. Well, the bathrooms (2 separate locations were disgusting.) The counters, floor, sinks were full of dirt, hair and random garbage. The firepit area above the pool is a disgrace. It must've had a weeks worth of trash in it. We couldn't even sit there to relax because who wants to stare at that? I think that may have been the only option for people to throw things away because the garbage cans near the ice machines were overflowed with garbage everywhere. We were excited for the "theme", however the QR code didn't even work to see the activities. After calling the desk she said to download the app. So, I did... the majority of theme activities were AFTER check out time on Sunday. Theme's clearly cater to the permanent campers, not weekenders. Another family was joining us and paid $20 extra per night to guarantee a spot next to our cabin. They were clear across the entire campground. However, the site they selected online AND on the paper map doesn't even exist. The MAP is definitely outdated. Our cabin was not bad, other than I think the mattresses are still the original ones from when the cabins were built. 2/4 sets of blinds were missing multiple flat pieces. Basically, if you were changing inside, anyone outside could look right in especially at night when the indoor light was on. After walking 9 minutes to buy a cup of coffee in the morning, the worker realized it was empty. He said to come back in 10-15 minutes. (He did apologize multiple times.) The pool was very nice and clean. We did not use the beach or lake, but it looked fine to me while walking by. The arcade was clean and offered a good amount of fun games and options at the snack bar. The playgrounds were great. The giant jumping mattress was a cool activity. The meat truck was a neat option, we purchased some things, along with the Dr. Hibachi...
Read moreWe had a mostly good experience at Roundup Lake Campground. We camped here on a Wed, Thurs night the last week in May and because it was during the week, none of the activities were running. Our kids were able to swim in the pool, but that was about it. We were told that the lifeguards were currently only available at the beach during the weekend and we needed to find someone to unlock the gate to use the jumping pillow (at 1 pm). The facilities and grounds are great. The shower houses were clean and the pool area was clean.
Our biggest issue was that there didn't seem to be any adults around whenever we needed to talk to someone. It seemed as though the whole place was ran by teenagers. We asked to switch sites, but the girl working at the desk didn't have admin priviledges on the computer and therefore couldn't change our site or make any adjustments to our reservation. We were willing to pay the price difference for the pullthrough site after seeing the additional shade, etc. It wasn't even an issue of availability. The computer simply wouldn't let her change the reservation and our only option to switch sites would have been to make a new reservation online for the other site and hope the management would give us a refund for our original site the next day. We were going to do this. When we asked her if that would work she told us they might not give us a full refund, so we decided to stay where we were. The teen at the desk was great - she was so polite and easy to talk to/work with. It wasn't through any fault of her own - however frustrating nonetheless. I have never been at a campground where I couldn't switch to a different site on arrival if it was available. This to me was a big negative.
In summary, we enjoyed our stay. The kids programs looked great and made our children wish they were there for the weekkend. It would have been nice if even a limited offering was available or the beach was open for some swimming if even the inflatables...
Read moreMy family has been camping here for 30 plus years. We have always enjoyed our time and always looked forward to coming back, even booking up to a year in advance. The last few years have been different. I realize their has been changes in management and employees and most of them have been extremely friendly and willing to help when needed. The problem lies mostly with the campers themselves, permanent and week-enders. Some week-enders are there to party and when they do, they do not care who they disturb or who"s campsite they trapse through at night,or who they keep up all night with the loud music. Some permanents also have loud parties and also allow their children to ride around on their golf carts all hours of the night or, let them roam around with their friends they bring out all night, and yes,i could point out the ones. This past week, we booked D-21 for a week, my sister and brother-in-law was with us. We were not there 20 minutes when a permanent, who was right across from us on the next road came up and immmediatly had an attitude because we had a pop-up,she asked too many questions and was quite rude. She even came up to us on another day and said to us,in a snotty tone that our dog was suppose to be on a leash at all times, well, guess what? my dog WAS on a leash the whole time! We also noticed that she was watching us most of the time. Some of the permanents also go by on their golf carts snubbing the week-enders or the people who camp through-out the summer months. We had thought about placing a camper here permantly but, with the prices being raised and the attitudes of some,it makes it hard to do it. I would really like to know why some people think they are better than others. When we camp,we are respecrful of our neighbors,do not play loud music and, do not stay up all night disturbing the people around us. We also leave our site the way we found it.Will we come back next year? that is a question we are...
