Big Bend Casitas at Far Flung Outdoor Center — Hotel in Manuel Benavides

Spent three nights at the Big Bend Casitas at Far Flung and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Casita was spotless and very well appointed. ||The kitchen was spacious with ample counter space and good quality cookware, glassware, and tableware. The fridge is larger than the typical hotel sized and a toaster, microwave, and coffee are provided. The kitchen table was good size with nice chairs. There are also very nice grill facilities provided in the courtyard for guest use.||The bed was very comfortable with hotel quality linens and plenty of pillows. The couch was clean and comfortable with a good sized sturdy coffee table.||The bathroom is large and clean, with plentiful high quality towels and bath amenities. Counter space is pretty limited, so additional wall shelving would be a suggestion. The provision of additional pool specific towels was appreciated as well!||The porch furniture is high quality composite material and a very comfortable place to watch the sunrise or take in the stars. This is a rural location and, after severe storms came through, the power went out but the facility’s large generator kicked on and restored all power (and air conditioning in the 100 degree heat) without a hitch.||The facility has a lovely pool with very nice loungers and a shaded pergola area. The landscaping throughout is beautiful and well-maintained and there is a great fire pit and outdoor games area. The coffee shop out front has a great variety of food and beverage offerings for a great breakfast.||All the staff we encountered were so friendly, always inquiring about our stay and whether we need anything. Clearly much thought went into making the guests feel welcome and spoiled (they blew away the luxury hotel we stayed at earlier in the trip in this regard)! ||This goes for their adventure offerings too as we had an amazing Jeep tour with Chris, whose excursion was the highlight of our two week trip around the State because he was such a fun and interesting person to spend the day with!||The attention to every detail was impressive and well appreciated-would highly recommend Far Flung without hesitation!! Nous souhaitions passé 3 jours à Big Bend, et le choix étant très restreint (3 hôtels en tout), nous avons choisis Big Bend Casitas. D'une part pour le type d'hébergement (Casitas), d'autre part pour la situation à Terlingua Ghost Town, et enfin, car nous souhaitions faire quelques activités comme du raft, du quad etc.||Un accueil vraiment chaleureux en arrivant, avec en plus quelques conseils pour les quelques restaurants et bars aux alentours, qui ne sont pas légions d'ailleurs..logique vu la situation géographique.||Ensuite, quelle surprise en arrivant dans notre Casitas....Une vue magnifique, rien à lh'orizon à part le désert et les montages de Big Bend en fond de paysage, avec 2 rockincher et une petite table sur la terrasse...Génial pour l'apéro, ou le petit déjeuner. ||Petit conseil : Il y a visiblement 6 casitas récentes, et 6 plus anciennes. Je ne sais pas dans quel état sont les anciennes, mais si possible, demandez une "récente". Déjà parce qu'elles sont vraiment sympas, neuves, et surtout, vous avez une super vue, ce qui n'est pas le cas des anciennes, même si ça reste correcte. ||Rien à redire sur la casitas, super bien équipée, une cuisine avec ce qu'il faut, ce qui est assez pratique. Une grande chambre avec 2 grands lits. Une salle de bain plus que bien équipée. Disons que c'est assez surprenant vue l'endroit. Vous êtes au milieu de nulle part, presque pas de signe de vie à 500 km à la ronde, et vous ne vous attendez pas à arriver dans un endroit "tout confort", et avec tant de charme. Nous avons regretté de n'être resté que deux nuits.||Nous avons également réservé une descente en rafting, au Far Flung Outdoor Center. Donc le même "organisme" qui gère les Casitas. C'est pratique, surtout pour le départ le matin. Vous vous présentez simplement à l'accueil de la résidence. Pour ce qui est de l'activité, c'était pas mal, paysages à tomber, et nous étions tout seul sur la rivière avec notre guide...nous n'avons vu personne, c'était magique. Seul regret, la partie raft est un peu courte, et nous ne sommes pas passé dans un canyon. Mais cela dépend toujours du niveau de l'eau.||Sinon il y a la Ghost Town de Terlingua à 2 minutes de la résidence, vous pourrez trouver 2 ou 3 adresses pour manger, ce qui est plutôt rare dans le coin. Nous avons essayé le Starligth café, pour le diner. Allez y, ça vaut vraiment le coup, on a très bien mangé, et l'endroit vaut vraiment le détour...Je ne parle même pas de la vue en sortant du resto. De plus, le service était vraiment agréable et souriant. ||Sinon nous avons essayé un midi le restaurant grill qui se trouve devant le motel Eldorado. Endroit qui vaut aussi le détour, et une carte plutôt sympa. Il y a visiblement souvent de la music live, comme au Starligth d'ailleurs.||A part ça, a 2 minutes à pied des Casitas, il y a une Gas Station où vous pourrez en plus de l'essence, faire quelques courses, pour manger rapidement, faire un petit déj, ou un apéro sur votre terrasse.||Pour info nous avons diner un soir au Lajitas Resort Golf and Spa à 30 min de la résidence, l'hôtel est très classe, un très joli cadre, un golf magnifique, et un restaurant plutôt pas mal. Mais nous n'avons pas pu voir les chambres. au final, nous n'avons quand même pas regretté d'être allé au Big Bend Casitas, car quand vous êtes à Big Bend, vous n'avez pas envie d'aller dans un "resort". ||Check Out tout aussi sympathique que le Check In.||Nous espérons avoir la chance de revenir à Big Bend, et nous retournerons au même endroit, sans hésiter.||P.S. : N'hésitez pas à poser quelques questions à l'accueil pour les restos, bars etc...Car c'est un territoire très vaste, et il vaut mieux avoir quelques infos avant, pour ne pas faire des...

I highly recommend staying at Big Bend Casitas at Far Flung Outdoor Center! After spending all day out hiking and exploring it was so nice to come back to our clean and comfortable casita. You can tell they have thought through what you would need while being away from home. The attention to detail was so impressive and appreciated. Everything looked/felt brand new and you could tell they care about their property (beautiful and clean grounds, great amenities like the pool, hot tub, ice makers, yard games, sitting areas, etc). The coffee shop on the property was such a nice perk each morning before we left for our next adventure. We did not have an opportunity to do one of their tours, but if we had it would have been so convenient. You just walk out of your front door, cross the parking lot, and are at the meeting spot! The location of the Casitas at Far Flung Outdoor Center is amazing too. You are so close to resultants, the road to Big Bend National Park, the gas station, etc. One night it was so windy/rainy and we were thankful we were warm, dry, and safe in the sturdy casitas.
