Terlingua House — Hotel in Manuel Benavides

We booked this spot to visit Big Bend. We had high expectations since it looks beautiful online and the photos were stunning, but the reality was different. First, we have an electric car and specifically booked it because they claim on their website to have a level 2 Tesla charger. This is false. They do not. They do have an outlet, but nobody travels with a level 2 cord. An outlet and a charger are 2 very different things. We were totally stranded and the hosts we're of no help despite completely false advertising. In addition the place was not anywhere close to as nice as the photos. Exterior was in disrepair, much of the furniture was stained and sagging, and the kitchen had minimal fixings (no salt for instance). For a third the price it would have been ok, and if they hadn't false advertised. Never again. Thankfully a local helped us out and we were able to borrow a car to explore the park while we charged up at Base Camp Terilingua. Will definitely stay with Base...

Wow! What an amazing stay in the desert. The house sits up on a small bluff with incredible views of the sunrise. The soft white of the home provides a perfect backdrop to the many shades of the surrounding desert. What else... rooms were comfy, kitchen was well kept and clean. Very skeptical about staying in a place in the middle of the desert wondering if it's going to be adequate sleeping arrangements. When arriving at the Terlingua house I was very surprised and how clean and well kept the rooms were. The kitchen was very adequately stocked for every cooking need.
