Whenever I book a trip, I love scoping out local restaurants. So, of course I checked out LDP’s menu well in advance of going to Terlingua & knew what I was going to order. I’m not a huge pizza eater, but they were truly to die for. The crust was perfection! You could get a small “sampler” pizza up to a large. I’m still thinking about the pizza weeks later! My husband & I ate there there several times, actually, and we got pizza (six shooter, Alye’s CBR and coyote), wings, two of the nightly specials (shrimp creole & Nashville hot chicken sandwich) and ice cold beer. Everything & everyone was five star-worthy!! The owners, Mallory & Andy, were so nice/welcoming, their staff was always attentive (we never had an empty glass) and the atmosphere was great. You can tell the owners love what they do and take such pride in their little slice of paradise (pun intended :) ). Andy’s also an incredible cook to come up with/make the specials himself! It was hot as blue blazes while we were in town, but I would have loved to catch the sunset/stars from their outdoor seating area - next time!
There’s a reason the locals and tourists alike love LDP. You may walk in as a stranger, but when you walk out, you’re family.
LDP is a MUST! I already can’t...
Read moreThis was some of if the best pizza i have ever had and the staff was friendly. It was smaller inside than I expected but I did not mind. All the indoor seating was long tables similar to folding tables one buys. At first it seemed strange but then I like it because it can encourage socializing if yiu are that kind of person.. I have to share this little bonus. My daughter asked if for a change on her pizza, which I said it probably would be too much of a pain for them but to ask because you never know. She asked and said she understands if it can't be done. The waitress said she didn't think so but was not sure so my daughter said not to worry about it. When the pizza was arrived, to our surprise the change was made. Kudos to them as we did not expect it. They had a variety of specialty pizzas in addition to your basics and build your own so you can't go wrong. They also had other items besides pizza but I cannot speak about them because I did not try them but I can't imagine they would not be just as delicious. Oh I almost forgot. I love that they have sizes small medium and large. My daughter and I got 2 different smalls because she likes "fancier" pizza and I prefer your basics. That makes pizza...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling. We arrived a half hour before opening and were immediately treated like unwelcome intruders. Instead of a polite explanation, we were rudely informed that they don’t open until 4pm, as if we were supposed to read their minds. Fine, we decided to wait in the back, only to be subjected to some guy with a hat and glasses glaring at us like we were criminals.
When my wife opened a beer from our van—an innocent move—someone (rudely) told us that wasn’t allowed. Fair enough, rules are rules, but just five minutes later, guy in the hat came out to scold our kids for playing in the dirt. Yes, the dirt. Apparently, there are "signs" (spoiler: there weren’t), and this wasn’t the “right place for us.” Right place? It’s a pizza joint in the middle of nowhere, not the Ritz. Instead of showing even the faintest shred of hospitality, they kicked us out before they even opened.
This was a small-town restaurant that couldn't care less about its customers or their experience. Go to Venga instead, where they actually seem to appreciate paying customers and don’t treat families like pests. Terrible place, terrible people, terrible vibes. Avoid...
