Colony Oaks at The Amana — Hotel in Marengo

My wife and I decided to take a ride to Amana, Iowa for the Memorial Day Weekend. We decided to stay at the Colony Oaks for two reasons, (1) recommendations from other TripAdvisor members and (2) this was one of the few places that had any openings for the weekend. First of all it was confusing on how to check into the Colony Oaks. There was no indication that we had to go to the Golf Course to check in. Luckily, there was a number on my reservation and I called that number to find out how you check in. I thought the room was a little over priced for what you got. The room was very simple. The refrigerator didn't work. The bed was comfortable. There was no extra's like a continental breakfast like other places. I wouldn't consider staying here again if I ever decided to visit...

Because of a problem with our late arrival, we were not able to stay at the Colony Oaks and had to find other lodging for the night. Colony Oaks paid for our lodging at another location and was prompt in doing so. When in the Amana area next time, I would stay with these people without...

I have been to Amana Colonies a few times, and this place was my favorite. It is very close to downtown main Amana. If you want the entire Amana Colonies experience, I wouldn't stay here. The place isn't old, or German, like most of Amana. It's very updated....
