This review is for wedding services only (not golf/clubhouse services): Overall, the venue is a beautiful location for a wedding ceremony and reception. The cost is very reasonable compared to other similar venues, although there are quite a few add-on costs to consider (extra shuttle cart fee, 10% catering fee, 20% food and beverage gratuity fee - note: the bartenders will also set out a tip jar at the reception with no note that a 20% gratuity has already been paid, beverage station fee, additional bar service hours fee, plus any costs for food and beverage you order through the venue). The barn capacity is 200 people. We had around 130 people at our wedding and with 8 per table plus room for a small dance floor and main walkway, it was still tight. There are not enough chairs to service both the ceremony and reception - some chairs had to be transported to the barn after our ceremony. It wasn't a problem, but something to note. If you are getting married in the summer, another thing to note is that the main A/C unit does not keep up, so there are two additional wall units installed. The A/C was not properly functioning on our wedding day and we had quite a few guests complain about the heat (which was partially caused by having to open the barn doors to transport chairs from the ceremony to the reception). The venue is a golf club of course, which means you'll have golf traffic to work around while transporting guests to the ceremony/reception and taking photos. There wasn't a lot of communication from the venue managers (in general or about things like the A/C and chairs), so I recommend taking the initiative to communicate with them frequently. While some of the roadblocks we had may have been unique to us and our day, the venue served our...

First off, if you want a place to take photos, this is a great place. The course looks lovely and is in good shape.

But if you want a friendly golf course, look someplace else. My buddy booked 2 tee times for 7 of us golfers at the twilight time. He tried calling, but was told they only accept tee times online. No biggie, he booked a couple tee times online.

We checked in and each of the 7 of us paid for our golf. The next morning, his credit card reports another charge on his card. He called the course, and they charged him because he had accidentally made a reservation for 2 4-somes. Note: he hadn't given his credit card during the reservation, because it wasn't required. What they did was they looked thru their charges for the day, and then because we only had 7 golfers, they matched his name to the reservation and charged him for the "missing" 8th.

They didn't tell us anything about it at the course. They also didn't have any singles that were waiting to play that would've joined us (which we would have been fine with) so they weren't out any greens fees by us only having 7. They just took the initiative to charge his card - without asking - because they figured they could get away with it.

I've NEVER had a course do this. Yes, most courses say they'll charge if you don't show up - and if you no-show a full 4-some that's valid - but I've NEVER had a course charge for 1 or 2 more people who didn't show up.

What a bunch of jerks! I will NOT be back here again. Spend your money elsewhere.

BTW: while a beautiful-looking course, it's not fun to play as the course is too narrow, choked with trees, and with numerous...

Beautiful course. Incredible weather. Great food. But... we played at a pace of 4 hours and 15 minutes and a twosome a couple groups behind us called to complain ahout pace of play and the management sent someone out to tell us to "skip a hole" so that we could "keep up with the target pace of play" (4 hours and 30 minutes). It didn't make any sense as we were playing up against a foursome the entire time and yet we were singled out...? Even when we physically pointed out the group ahead of us to the staffer we were still treated as if we were somehow in the wrong. It was incredibly disrespectful and put a terrible taste in our mouth in what was otherwise a great day. Golf here if you want to pay $65 and receive $0 worth of customer...

COURSE OF THE YEAR 2025: Amana Colonies Golf Club (Amana, IA)🏆🌲 500 acres of white-oak forest, elevation for days, wicked-fun greens, and that “just you + the trees” vibe. Five tees (5,228–6,824 yds), pristine conditioning, and a brand-new clubhouse with simulators. Stay & play at Hotel Millwright. ~15 min off I-80, ~25 from Iowa City. Tag your foursome, drop your favorite hole at Amana, and save this for your 2026 trip. Huge thanks to the Amana team for a special season-ender! #iowa #golfcourse #fyp #golftiktok #travel
