Our stay at Turtle Rocks Oceanfront Inn was wonderful. The views of the ocean are incredible. From the bed, we could see waves crashing on rocks near the shore. The sound of the waves was magical. We could hear sea lions singing in the morning if the door was open. ||We loved the room. There are all the amenities we needed, and I was especially impressed with the bed - very high quality mattress that was clearly new and had solid support under the pillow top, with wonderfully soft high-end sheets. The sound insulation was also excellent - I was not surprised to learn that there are double-walls explaining this. ||The innkeeper, Roger, was so friendly and helpful. He made a lovely breakfast every morning and told us about all the local attractions that fit our interests - hiking and dining in our case - giving us tips on how to get the most out of the places we visited. There is a paper itinerary in every room as well, which tells about all the local attractions and tailors them to how much time a visitor has in the area. ||There are other details we loved as well. The garden was beautiful. There are nice treats and coffee and tea in the common area every afternoon. The community refrigerator has plenty of room and is stocked with nonalcoholic beverages. There are powerful binoculars in the common room for looking out at the ocean. There are nice magazines, books, and local maps there as well. The assistant who gave us the initial tour was very nice and helpful. Security is good - they ask us to lock the front door to the inn whenever coming or going. The housekeeper also does good work, and I was happy to find out from conversation with Roger that she is paid a good living wage. ||While I went here for a romantic getaway, and it was perfect for that, as a mother I also noticed how it would be good for families with children - I noticed details like there being hot chocolate with marshmallows available at tea time, or again the double walls between rooms that allow kids to be their playful selves. ||We can’t wait to return to Turtle Rocks Oceanfront...

We can’t wait to return to Turtle Rocks Oceanfront...
Read moreTurtle Rocks was simply exceptional! We carefully chose this property as the last leg of our long road trip up the coast from San Fran to host us for the pinnacle of our journey: Redwood National Forest. The photos cannot do justice to the actual views we had from our room and its balcony/porch. Utterly stunning. Even in the rain! (Maybe especially in the rain, because you were experiencing the beauty of the place in comfort despite the rain!) This inn is exceptionally clean, welcoming, and comfortable. The beds and linens were wonderful. The room was huge for the three of us. Our suite had a large bathroom, great shower and water pressure, but the room also had a large side vanity room with a sink and mirrors and outlets to “get ready” while someone else was using the bathroom.| The common kitchen/dining room was stocked with snacks and drinks, games and books, and maps and local info galore. Our first hours there, we played scrabble, ate their delicious cookies, drank tea and soda, watched the surf, and looked at maps and displays about the area. You think you see all you need online but you don’t. When you go into a traveler’s trove like that common area/dining room, you get to really soak in true Redwood lore and data, curated over years of hospitality. We adjusted some hiking plans we had previously made from our online sources - with great success. |We were able to focus on our exploring of this important area and not supplies - we had a perfectly appointed and comfortable home base! Owner keeps a well-stocked fridge with bevs and offers delicious snacks. Breakfasts were delish, generous, and friendly - then we got onto the trails. Beautiful grounds, very friendly owner - we are busy professionals with kids who love travel and give...
