The rooms are exactly what you expect from motor lodge next to a mountain. Nothing fancy but clean and quaint accommodations. The shower wasn't the best but again if you are there to snowboard or be on the mountain all day it is more than sufficient. When we were there is was REALLY cold, like not above -2°F during the day, so it was really really cold. The heat was just not cutting it in the room, it was cold and we had it cranked as high as we could turn that nob! We heard a couple people complain but there was really nothing they could do as it was old base board heating, so we layered up. The common area, lounge, breakfast area is super cute and fun. The family that runs it was also very nice and polite and helpful. They even left the room open for us since we were getting there later than planned. The included breakfast was VERY basic, i mean more basic than some hostels I've stayed at : waffles, 2 kinds of cerial, the cheap plain bagels, and plain English muffins, jelly, butter, peanut butter, coffee, and hot water for tea. There may have been Apple's out also, but it was fairly cheap even tho we stayed during a holiday weekend, so can't complain to much about food. It was enough to put something in the belly and start the day. If I was only coming up for a night or 2 this is a great spot to stay. Also close to pick like 10 mkin drive....about 20 minutes to K1 gondola...
Read moreMe and my husband decided to stay here because we thought it was closer to where we were spending the weekend. Come to find out it wasn’t, when we arrived the parking lot was all tore up and there wasn’t much “recreational parking” which we needed because we had a trailer on the back of the truck. As we are pulling in we notice that the pool cover was on the pool. We walked up to it and it wasn’t opened yet. That was definitely a let down because my daughter was looking forward to the pool. So then we saw the hot tub maybe we can best of a bad situation, the hot tub cover had a lot of dust on it and that kind of made me think that it probably isn’t cleaned too often. So we check in get our key. I kind of got a jail cell kind of vibe from the room.I wasn’t looking for Hilton by any means but a little updating would have been nice. The tv had maybe had 20 channels. It was no more than 19 inches, late 1980s picture. The bathroom was tiny. My daughter found baby toys and a spoon under the bed. The ac was outdated didn’t blow cold air. The bed wasn’t so bad but the pillows were pancake flat. My husband said the office area was nice but I never went in there. I am not one to complain but the best part of our stay was when we left. It is definitely somewhere you just...
Read moreThis place sometimes gets a bad online rap from people who expect to pay McDonald's prices for Maine lobster. As long as you understand that this isn't a luxury resort, I'm SURE you'll be more than happy staying over at the Killington-Pico Motor Inn.
Ski trips (particularly the lift tickets) are expensive, and when coming here with friends ever since college, all we ever really need are just a few comfy beds for the end of our wild Killington nights. Add to that the complimentary hot/cold breakfast, year-round hot tub, and the awesome family that runs this hotel, and you've got the perfect "best kept secret" that Lynda M. describes. Rooms are kept clean, owners know me by name even though I'm far from a "frequent flyer" here, and the other guests are always fun to chat with in the cozy hotel lobby / living room area.
A couple notes on mass transit for those that plan to rely on "The Bus" (the Killington region bus system). Morning buses en route to Killington pick up outside this hotel's entrance at 30 minutes past the hour (as of this writing) on the "Diamond Express" (Rutland-Killington) line. Evening buses are pretty much the same deal - just make sure you get on the Diamond Express, as the other bus just goes back and forth on the...
