I really hate that I'm forced to give this campground a 1 star rating, because it deserves far far worse than that. Unfortunately, I have to say that the manager of the park should almost certainly be fired; not because they are doing a bad job, but because it is evident they aren't doing any job at all. This campground has some of the best potential of any park we have been too while simultaneously being the worst maintained campground I have ever seen. There is NO security at this campground and NO enforcement of any rules. Anyone can just drive in, and the # of people per site rule is completely abused, and they play loud music into the night; other people drive in for the day and use empty sites for picnicking and use the amenities, that you had to pay for, and then leave. A disgusting lack of pride of ownership is pervasive here and the seasonal campers treat it accordingly, using the whole grounds as a trash can, leaving litter everywhere. Arcade was close all weekend, laundry room is revoltingly dirty and multiple units out of service. We received a long list of out-of-order sites. Trying to find a level site is nearly impossible. The water valve at our site blew off the end of the pipe and made a geyser, someone walked by and said "oh happened to you too?" Not even a poor attempt at grounds keeping is made, sites were overgrown, leaves from last fall covering some, pine cones and over grown bushes covering what looked like was supposed to be walk ways. Seasonal campers walked their dogs and didn't clean up their feces. We witnessed two occasions of seasonal site holders lying about their neighboring site being out of order to keep it open to park their cars in it, even had a bag over the panel box in one instance. One bath house closed and dilapidated. Mini golf could be very nice but completely unkempt. The stage in the club house had piles of Halloween decorations strewn about and a Halloween manikin display still left out. There was a young raccoon walking around the courtyard area on Saturday. We told a worker and they said that they called animal control and AC said that the mother might come back for it so leave it go until noon and then they would come. Not until I suggested that children walking around a young, sick looking raccoon was probably a hazard, did the maintenance crew take any action. Overheard the main maintenance lady joking about it having rabies and if it bit her it would allow her to go home on work comp. There is no supervision by the pool, the gate is open all day and anyone, whether camping there or not, can come and use the pool area, so be sure to consider it as no more than a filthy public access pool. Half the sites don't have fire rings, so you will have to steal one from a neighboring site, and even some of the annual cabin sites don't have working water hook up and are piping water via a garden hose from other sites across the street from them. Speaking of the cabins, they are run down with siding rotting off the sides of them. I can't imagine what the inside looks like. The indoor water park has been closed for awhile, but judging from pictures in other reviews its a good thing as I would never have let my kids swim in it for fear of C Diff. I don't know how this place passes any code inspection, if any occurs, as they use trees as poles to run what appear to be power and cable lines. The comfort station bathrooms were cleaner than the rest of the campground. There was a sweet lady who worked the general store and should probably be given a raise as she is the only hope for this campground. The courtyard area was used for a nice local band to play on Saturday night. We checked out Tim. Lake South and it actually looks like an actual campground, complete with a security station, rules and some pride of ownership, we might try there. But never, ever, will we be back to Timothy Lake North, it is camping hell. Are you thinking about going here? Don't. It is a stain on the Thousand Trails brand and they should get it turned around or drop it from...
Read moreHere’s a story about our regretful trip Timothy Lake North RV... Upon arrival we found there to be no gate, check-in station, or monitoring of guests as we have become accustomed to finding with thousand trails resorts. We drove around for almost an hour to find a spot that was not out of order (we were given a long list), extremely small, overgrown, unlevel, or all of the above. We also found some of the seemingly helpful seasonal staff would lie to campers pulling in about the spots next to them to allow themselves more room for parking. We witnessed this verifiably happen twice. At first you think nothing of it because so many sites are out of order but some frustrated campers coming in later at night decided to try them anyway and lo-and-behold they worked! Finally we chose a spot that didn’t have a fire ring but we took one from a broken spot and got a decent set up. Then our water hookup exploded and was a geyser flooding the campsite until 2 of the three employees showed up (in good time I will say) to fix it. The playground was nice on Friday night. But he “regulars” as I will call them let their kids run rampant, cursing and yelling and throwing trash on the ground late into the night. A thousand trails employee previously suggested that we change our reservation to south because it was more “family friendly” and north was “a lot of locals” and could get “rowdy on the weekends”. It’s sad that Thousand Trails already knows about this problem though they may try to sugar coat it. Saturday morning I found the entire playground and basketball courts covered in garbage left by other campers. My children were trying to play amongst sharp edged soda cans and half full styrofoam cups. When I sent a frustrated message to the Facebook account it was read immediately but not replied to until a full day later when they insisted the playground had been checked and cleaned that (SUNDAY) morning however, we pulled out early Sunday at 12 noon and could still see the mounds of trash wall over the playground and courts. The entire campground is a free for all and there are day campers that come and squat at an empty campsite, use the facilities (pool, playground, courts, etc) while they eat drink and spay the water hookuPs at each other. Then they leave with some of their mess not cleaned up. Completely unnoticed. The “regulars” have twenty family members pull right in with multiple cars that they park at empty sites. No rules or regulations whatsoever. The pool is also open and not monitored so anyone a f their brother can pull into the parking lot and swim. The pool was supposed to open at 10 and was being cleaned until 10:30 by one of the 3 employees however was still full of dirt and leaves when we got there immediately after opening. It is impossible to have a good time here. If it seems like I’m being nit picky I must say there a SO MANY OTHER smaller things to complain about that pale in comparison. The only other beacon of hope was a great local band that played Saturday night. We drove down to Timothy Lake South which is gated, has better sites, nicer crowd, clean facilities. If we ever ever come back it will be to there. However the stay at this campground could make me decide not to renew membership with thousand trails. This campground is a disgusting stain on Thousand Trails reputation and should be dropped from the franchise immediately. The management is absent at best and it is a complete free for all to people who do not respect it. Though maybe they see the current state of the entire grounds and facilities and decide it doesn’t deserve respect. Either way...
Read moreNot sure where to start, but I will tell you avoid as this place is a definitely not fun, clean and entertaining place. Let's start with check in, they do not assign spots, you have to look for your own spot, and if you are tailing a camper it can be a task. On top of that, the spots, most are not level, so if you come bring levers. Next the pool is only 4 ft at its deepest, pic looks deceiving, and the bathrooms are 2 outhouses. Lake? How about a swamp, you would not even think of going in the water. Pavilion, you mean 4 4x4's with a disgusting roof on top, and surrounding area not kept well. Now the playground, the slides and climb throughs are filthy, I would not want my kids playing in to. Mini golf? , the course is filled with leaves and branches, and the turf is ripping. Activities for kids, or any one? Non existing, they never gave an rundown of events, and or, locations. I stayed in Lake North, the General store was close by 7PM on Monday night, did not open till 12 Tuesday, and would close at 4:30. When I went earlier in the day and I saw an individual going into the activity center, as polite as she was, being facetious, she didn't even know what time it opened and told me if I wanted something I could go miles down the road to Lake South, really? Then why have a store in the North? When I went to the store asked about TV, he stated they do not have TV, even though there are hookups, and the did not have WIFI, even though they advised you can pay $4.98 a day on the website for WIFI. When you pull up to the entry gate you cannot even reach the keypad to get in when entering the Noth Campground, you have to get out of your car to enter the code. This place is far from the pics on thier website, far less than adventurous than advertisements, take this as a warning to stay away from this place. We even spoke to a couple who is in the camping club they belong to, and they stated this was the worst place they stayed at. The campground can deny all this all they want, my whole family can back me on all my statements, and we have pics to prove all this. We paid over $500, Monday-Saturday, spend your money wisely, not here, we stayed at Otter Lake twice before, and for about the same, maybe a tad more, you have a beautiful vacation for all. So STAY AWAY from Timothy Lake Campground!! I would give a zero rating if I could. I am not a complaining person, but what we have here I do not want others to be fooled...
