The room wasn't all that bad and neither was the rate actually very reasonable. The maid service was horrible. I stayed there a week and a half and the only thing replaced were the towels and other things I had to request. There were 3 days when I actually ran out of toilet paper because less than a whole roll and no extra were left in my room. she dragged in gravel everyday coming in and out repeatedly and dragged more and more gravel in each day and never vacuuming leading the carpet to be excruciating to walk on without shoes (also yelled and kicked at the cats in front of my door). The owner was extremely rude due to the fact that my boss had paid for a week of stay ahead of time, and my stay was extended by three days so the owner said it would be ok if we paid at the end. the day before the last he knocked on my door demanding payment. so I had him come in my room and called my boss in front of him to call the front desk to make a payment. My boss, ran into some other office issues and was not able to call into pay immediately when demanded. I stopped in the Motel office on the way out (I did not need to I did it out of common courtesy) to an appointment out of my way to make sure everything was ok, due to the fact that he had demanded payment earlier then he had stated before. He told me that my boss had not called and stated that I could not leave to go get my phone in my car and said that I had to pay with my own money immediately and could not call my employer or do anything over the phone so I paid with my credit card. I feel that this was very unnecessary due to the fact that my employer paid for 2 rooms for a week each beforehand and would not let me call him to get the payment info. I don't know many Service business that operate this way. Unfortunately this is really the only place to stay in Milan, MO. I would suggest steering clear or be prepared to not expect many of the normal services/politeness of a chain hotel or any business that practices customer service or...
Read moreThis is the kind of place that uses carpet squares. So, if one gets damaged or soiled, it can be replaced, by itself, inexpensively. This gives the floors a Mondrian-look. But it reflects the establishment's attitude -- do everything on the cheap. So, do not look for amenities. They do not exist, in any form. The walls are thin (like the towels), so we could hear our neighbor snoring. (This is a good reason to turn on the fan on the HVAC.) The "glasses" are those cheap plastic things. There is a microwave but no cups or bowls. (It would be impossible to heat water for tea or coffee in the plastic glasses provided. Soaps are twice the size of a Communion wafer and about the same thickness. On the plus side, the shower has good water pressure and plenty of hot water for a reasonable shower. But don't try to use the bathroom mirror for any fine work of any kind. Also, if you're spending more than one night, don't expect the room to be freshened up after the first night. However, the room seemed pretty clean. We killed one spider and one...
Read moreThis is a mom and pa type motel. Throughout the past year, I have stayed there off and on while cleaning up my uncle's estate. The motel staff has always been friendly, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable about local attractions and events. The rooms are cozy, equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, cabinets, table with chairs, setting chair and cable TV. The furniture itself is an older style but well maintained and clean. They offer free wireless internet that has always been reliable and fast. I have been in several car accidents and as a result, I have issues with my back and neck. The beds have always been comfortable and relaxing. Whether you are visiting or traveling through north central Missouri, visiting family or an avid hunter, I would definitely recommend staying at the Milan Motel on...
