We just stayed here for 2 days while we were in town visiting family and friends. We typically stay closer however, the hotel we normally stay at had outrageous prices. So, we decided to stay a bit of a drive further and we are so very happy we did.
First, this hotel’s location is great for travelers. It’s a 10 second drive to 476, the PA Tpke. It’s sandwiched in between a Wawa on one side, a Dunkin’ on the other and a 2 minute walk to McDonald’s. There’s also an Italian place within walking distance as well. The Wawa is 24 hours. It’s a fantastic location when you need a quick bite at 10pm! Or, you’re headed out early. Wawa is one of our favorites.
We arrived on a Friday at 330 and I immediately thought we would have issues with parking and noise because a bunch of people were in the hotel to stay for a wedding. I was wrong. And, I’m so glad I was!
I waited maybe 30 seconds to check in and was greeted by a young man named Byron. He is a WONDERFUL asset to this hotel. He’s in the right line of work. Friendly, beyond helpful, welcoming. This is the type of person you want to greet you after a 4 hour drive in the car with a 4 year old that doesn’t stop talking! Our room we reserved was not yet ready (we were about 30 minutes early) but Byron left to go check the floor availability and came back with a room that worked even better for us.
We stayed on the first floor. It was a fantastic location. Steps from the hotel lobby and steps from the side entrance, getting inside with our bags was a breeze.
The room was very well cleaned and furnished. I’m a professional cleaner and I look at every single nook and cranny if I’m staying someplace. The furnishings were sleek and stylish with a bit of a nod to West Elm/Pottery Barn. We had a king studio suite and I was concerned about space with 4 people but both of my children absolutely loved the room. There was ample space to spread out and even a bit of privacy with the desk partition centered on the side of the room. We also liked that the bathroom area was split into two…the toilet and sink were on one side and the shower and a huge vanity sink in the other. It was really convenient to access the areas we needed to, with more than one person at a time.
We enjoyed all the amenities at the hotel during our two day stay. The indoor pool and whirlpool was a hit with our 11 year old and 4 year old. We spent a solid 90 minutes by ourselves in the area on a Saturday night at 630pm! Well maintained, clean and a great area if you’ve got some time to kill while hanging out at the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was well stocked and clean also. Plenty of options for even the pickiest eaters. My husband and I greatly enjoyed the coffee. We remarked several times on how delicious it was! As a coffee snob, I loved that they left the coffee area up all day! It’s great for an afternoon pick me up. They also have hot chocolate for kids as well. They kept a huge container of fresh ice water in the lobby. We have traveled multiple times to hotels that have no water at all so we really appreciated this.
The hotel was busy but we never had an issue with noise or any other guests. In fact, just the opposite. We found everyone to be lovely and kind. I enjoyed sitting outside in nice weather at one of their multiple “patio” areas, just to stop for a few minutes. It seemed other guests enjoyed doing the same. On Saturday evening, a pair of men sat outside with cigars and beer too! No staff lingering to force people out.
Staff is attentive and incredibly helpful. The management at Springhill Suites seems to be doing a great job running the hotel. We did know that they seemed to be short staffed when it came to the housekeeping side of things but it did not diminish our stay in anyway.
I highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area! It’s a great hotel with moderately priced rooms, wonderful amenities and a super location.
This is our new favorite, for sure! We will be back when we are in the area and look forward to our stay...
Read moreI've waited a few days to write this review, and I continue to be so upset as to the treatment we received while staying at this hotel. I will start by saying this was from other guests, not staff, but the issue was that staff did nothing to address the issue. My wife and I were part of a wedding which used this hotel as a base station, to get ready and a place to rest for the weekend. The rooms were very nice, and out only issue with them was the thermostat controls almost seemed pointless as no matter what we changed them to, nothing changed. Also we bought soda from the lounge area, and it was flat and expires. Now, back to my major issue. My wife and the bride stayed Friday night as well as saturday night. On saturday, we were coming back from the wedding, drained and completely exhausted. We walked into the main lobby, and there was a large group of people, whom were treating the lobby area as their own personal bar, were shouting obscenities at myself as well as my wife and the newlyweds. The were being way out of line and made us feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed. This is not something I would expect from a hotel of this stature. The front desk employee watched and listened and did/said nothing. I had to go back down to the front area several other times and it continued. My wife then told me the group had been there the night prior doing the same thing, so it seems this is a normal occurrence. This alone, has made me not want to ever stay at another Marriot brand ever again! I vacation often with my family, and typically chose a Marriot hotel for our stay, but I am afraid that will be no more. I will be posting this review on other sites as well in hope that no one else has to experience this...
Read moreThe hotel is in a convenient spot right of the Turnpike. That said, the staff was weird. The people working weren't friendly, didn't look clean, and didn't offer much assistance. My mother and I were put in room 202 for the night, and upon walking in, both of us had intense allergic reactions. We are both severely allergic to mold, and upon looking around in the room and the hallway, it was pretty obvious the place was filled with mold. Other than the mold, the room was disgustingly dirty. Everything was covered in a thick layer of dust, and the bedding and towels weren't super clean. So, we called the front desk and asked for another room as at this point neither of us could breathe due to our mold allergies kicking in. So a weird gentleman came and met us at our room. He seemed pretty disturbed at the fact that he had to deal with hotel guests at 11pm. He offered us room 201, and we moved all our luggage into their and stated to settle in just for our allergies to get worse. Upon looking around the room, mold was obvious yet again, and there were obvious repairs/repainting done in parts of the ceiling. At this point my throat had closed to the point I could barely breathe, and we decided to exit the building. After using my inhaler and taking some medication for my allergies, we decided to let the staff know that we would not be staying the night. We decided to try the Hampton Inn across the street as they had a room available and had decent reviews. Happy to say the Hampton Inn was a good choice, it is freshly remodeled, clean, and the staff was very friendly. The Hampton Inn should've been our...
